my dog freaks out every time I touch his nails, so the dog nail clipper with a file caught my eye right away. His claws were scratching the floor and my arms, and trimming used to be a wrestling match LOL. This one cuts clean and the built in file smooths the edges so no sharp pokes after. I messed up teh first try but he stayed calm, maybe he knew treats were coming?? Now grooming is quick and kinda funny instead of chaotic!

I bought these clippers for my rabbits and the size is great but I really have to work around the fact that if i'm tilting it a certain way it'll lock itself, which makes it very difficult to use because rabbits are sensitive when it comes to their paws and having it lock while trying to cut their nails is frustrating. I don't use the file but Im sure would be nice for other pets.

I tried multiple times on my dogs and it just slides off their nails. Big safety issue. I have been cutting their nails for years, with a few different types of clippers, including one of the exact same style/size, but different brand and feels sturdier. I definitely do not recommend this one. I asked for a return and Chewy refunded the cost.

I agree with the reviews that say this isn’t for small pets. The guard isn’t close enough to the clipper so it’s easy to include the quick if you just trust the guard. Sometimes it doesn’t cut all the way through and has instead bent the claw. This has only happened a few times with me and it could very well be due to the position of her claw, but I think that signifies that they could be sharper. I’m basically ignoring the guard, and by doing so they’re fine. I wouldn’t say I recommended for their intended purpose which is use in small pets and increasing safety, but with a larger pet I’d imagine that it would be okay.

I bought these after my dog scratched my leg while excitedly jumping, ouch! These clippers are sharp, easy to hold, and have a safety guard that really helps. The included file smooths everything out nicely. Oddly enough, my dog tried to hide the clippers in his toy basket. guess he thought they were his! Still, they work great and make nail trims much less stressful. Super happy with this set.
