This filter comes with active carbon and a bio media however, you may use whatever is best for your specific tank needs. The filter features 2 media baskets for use.

The ultraviolet sterilizer can be turned off and on to help eliminate algae and some parasites.

The UV Bulb is replaceable as it is recommended to change it every 8000 hours of usage.

1) The knobs to control the flow rate were untested and have to be pushed back into place.

2) The internal outlet that is supposed to pour water over the prefilter doesnt have any output.
3) The biomedia isn't sufficient to fill it's basket.
4) The carbon packet doesnt fit the basket.
*5) Most importantly, the uv doesnt work. The indicator light came on for 2 seconds and disappeared. I took it apart to see of it wasn't seated properly and discovered it was burned out. I bought a replacement bulb and reinstalled. Nothing.

Works like a charm
I struggled with algae that my aquarium water looked like pea soup. This filter removed that algae and the water and fish are healthy and beautiful

Haven’t had it very long, but so far I love it. It’s quiet and my tank has stayed free from algae so far! Since I am new to this filter, I do have a question, though,

Sun sun hang on uv sterilizer filter
Its been only 4 days and water is almost clear my tank had so much algae that i could not see fish

Didn't work, right out of the box
We put it together and plugged it in. Not working, no motor sound. It was 60 days from our purchase and we can't get refund.

didn’t last
This pump lasted just 2 months. Iv light on it works but the miter went out in the filter so iv light is t any good without it pumping water. Disappointed

Outstanding Chinese product
I was skeptical at first. I am a American Fish/Aquarium Hobbyist. For the money and simplicity of use, this is a great secondary or even third back up HOB. WORKS

I've had many of this type of filter over the years. This one is much like other brands in design. It is easy to set up, It is exceptionally quiet, and I like the adjustable flow feature. The UV is a bonus, though I am not sure the amount to exposure time is adequate.
I have had several SunSun products (canister filters, etc) they have proven to be good quality for a reasonable price.
