The SunSun HW-302 runs very quiet unless the water levels are low, then it'll sound like a fountain.

How long is the hoses ? And does it come with filter media ?

The hose size is 3/4" and 4.6 feet long.

Will this work well with sand substrate?

This filter can be used with sand, however it is recommended that the filter be switched off when changing water, aquascaping, or engaging in any act that can potentially stir up sand, as the sand can ruin the filter if pulled through.

Works great but hard to set up

This filter does an excellent job, but it’s hard to get it started. My husband has to help me pump it to get it going because it takes strength and effort. However,

This filter does an excellent job, but it’s hard to get it started. My husband has to help me pump it to get it going because it takes strength and effort. However, once you get it going, it does a great job keeping the tank clean and lasts longer between cleanings than any other I’ve had.

Stopped working after 2 weeks!

Bought this for my 40-gallon tank. I used it for 2 weeks, just fine! But one morning, I woke up to a TERRIBLE grinding noise coming from it. It no longer does anything

Bought this for my 40-gallon tank. I used it for 2 weeks, just fine! But one morning, I woke up to a TERRIBLE grinding noise coming from it. It no longer does anything but makes noise. I've cleaned it and put it all back together, and nothing works. I've had plenty of canister filters before and have never had a problem, but this one is terrible and a waste of money.

great filter for 75 gallon

this is quiet, works great. BUT I did not get the filter sponges and media in the package, but it isn't supposed to come with this one.
