SwiftPaws Pounce! Complete Kit Cat Toy, Black

SwiftPaw's Pounce has been an absolute game changer for our cat (kitten growing fast)! This is a must for exercise and engagement for inhouse catting. If your cat (or someone you know's cat) is a house cat the AutoTrack ("AT") two minute burst are great and safe exercise! That can be replayed throughout the day to build stamina! If you are waiting out the spay and neuter age - this is a great way to maintain progress of speed and agility training during critical developmental stages. It also helps with "self-play" development. We were desperately seeking solutions to the playful hand bites and scratches kittens are known for - this worked wonderfully! It is a toy we could run without being directly involved but present. Now, we've had Pounce for several months and our kitten is matured into a young adult. Yes, she has stopped biting us or chewing on us all together! Her momma cat lives next door and comes by for visits daily - she also really likes this toy. Both very patiently wait near the setup for it to get turned on! Regarding the setup, we tested two ways: 1. I opened the box and figured out how to setup and run the system with ease. The pucks go right down, make a loop; the string and lure(s) are provided, cut to length, tie on lure, a little tension is required. The default run time is great two minute runtime and auto shutoff! It auto goes on way, redirects, pauses, redirects, goes slow and fast keeping it interesting and fun. Basically flip the 'on' switch, press auto run ('AT') and it goes for quiet a while! 2. For the advanced engineering my partner read the manual! The only adjustment they made to my setup was to include the 'safety straps' to the back of the pucks. These are so helpful for advanced play. As the cats figure out what the heck is happening they begin to get more aggressive and slide or knock the pucks out of place. The straps secured to couch legs, chair legs, stair rails, tree branches, imagination from here - really keep the game setup for a long time and run in a variety of height, and distance scenarios. Based on the reading of the manual my partner also disassembles the run between uses - FOR SAFETY. We also learned the Auto run time is 2 minutes - which is great! The cats really do get tired and lay waiting with their paw (or whole body) on the rope for the lure to come back around. Any additional feature worth mentioning is the texture of the rope provided and the spindle that drives the motion are soft enough to allow the rope to slide on the spindle if any resistance is present. This is hard to describe but when the cats get the lure and holds it down the system can detect the delay and sometimes stops but sometimes it keeps running; the rope easily slips on the spindle allowing the cat to hold the rope and lure until they are ready for it to run again. This mimics the tendency of pray to play dead until released and try to sprint away. This is great if the rope gets wonky in anyway it does not create any pull or tension. This is a great play and safety feature.
