Drug & Food Interactions
The following drug interactions have either been reported or are theoretical in humans or animals receiving tamsulosin and may be of significance in veterinary patients: Adrenergic blockers, beta blockers, cimetidine, clarithromycin, ketoconazole, sildenafil, terbinafine, warfarin.
Tamsulosin is contraindicated in patients known to be hypersensitive to it. Tamsulosin capsules are manufactured in a sustained-release (beads) presentation to avoid rapid absorption and associated hypotensive effects; therefore they should not be crushed or compounded into an oral suspension.
