When changing to Taste of the Wild, we recommend making a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days to help avoid possible digestive upset in sensitive pets. Add a small amount of new food to your dog’s previous diet, gradually increasing the new and decreasing the previous diet until the transition is complete.
Learn More About Taste of the Wild From Our Team of Experts
They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.
Energy That Lasts
Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.
Immune System Support
Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.
Maximizing Nutrient Absorption
To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.
Perfectly Balanced Omegas
Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

Does the "fish meal" in this food include white fish?
Answer by • May 08, 2020
For ocean fish meal, small ocean fish, such as Menhaden whitefish, are cooked and ground to a fine consistency. It's a highly digestible source of protein and minerals. Additionally, ocean fish meal supplies marine source omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA.
I love taste of the wild products as it is the only food my picky pup will eat without toppers. Or, so I thought until I tried Pine Forest. Even the few occasions I have to mix Taste of the Wild dog food with something....warm water normally does the trick. The Pine Forest flavor however, my dog will barely touch. I have tried the warm water trick along with other flavor powders, supplements, etc. Just trying to get through this bag so I can take her back to the "High Prarie" which she absolutely loves.

Made dog sick. Had to throws away!
Dog was vomiting and lethargic, it’s a Labrador that will eat anything, I know he didn’t get into anything else that would cause this. After 1 week of him throwing up daily 4-5 times per day and not wanting or finishing his food, I went to the store and got a small bag of Beneful and he at that no problem, had not thrown up and not acting lethargic. Dog is fine today where as he looked like he was dying all week since starting the Taste of Wild.

My dogs love Taste of the Wild. When we rescued our little girl in January they gave us a small bag of the lamb flavor. Being grain free we switched our other dog. We ordered a large bag of lamb, but next order they were out, so salmon. Our recent order salmon was out, so pine forest for now.

Pine Forest- Wish I Found You Sooner!
for years i have struggled to find the right food for my (now senior, 9 years old) blue pitty mix. our veterinarian stated our last shot would be putting him on steroids for the temainder of his life because of his food allergies. he’d break out in hives constantly, which made his quality of life poor, and no dog deserves that. we found Taste of the Wild’s Pine Forest- and he has been allergy-free ever since. thank you for letting my baby enjoy life again.

Love the brand, but not this flavor.
I ordered Pine Forest because our usual Pacific Stream flavor was out of stock, and I mixed it with our staffy's usual kibble to begin the transition. She seemed to enjoy the flavor itself (though she ate with slightly less enthusiasm) but the morning after her first mixed meal she had a soft serve accident on the floor. Lesson learned! When you find a brand and flavor that work, stick with it.

good but can improve!
This food is great and the ingredients+ the guaranteed analysis looks great but the peas/ lentils are way to high on the ingredients. There’s sources out there that say to much peas/lentils can cause some issues but like I said that’s the only issue I have w totw. A little pricey but not bad
