The Tavo products are not certified by the Center for Pet Safety. The Center for Pet Safety looks to be an independent company that performs its own testing on multiple animal products. This certification is not required for the carrier.

Can the large crate be secured in the cargo area of a midsized suv?

This kennel can not be secured in the cargo area of a mid-sized SUV. The carrier needs to be installed on a normal vehicle seat for the use of the lower anchors and tether.

Thoughtful design, well made, and crash tested

Light weight, easy to put in and out of the car. We were able to mount it over a dog hammock that can unzip to allow access to the car seat anchors. Stays relatively cool in the car and has good air flow so it stays a relatively similar temperature to the rest of the car. I feel much better knowing my pup is traveling in something crash tested. He’s very comfortable in it and has enough space to get comfortable without having excessive space. He’s a 15.5 lbs Chinese crested, so he’s very tall and leggy and we got the small size. The padded flap that clips over the mesh on the side next to the door is a little annoying to clip and unclip every time but not a big deal. The mesh on one end got a little stretched from a family members large dog resting his head against it which does make me question how well the side mesh will hold up in an accident though, and it is a little upsetting that it deformed so easily with how expensive this kennel is. Overall I am happy with it though, and more importantly my dog really likes it.

We can’t say enough good things about this carrier. We have 3 Jetset bags but our 18lb Havanese had just gotten too big to be comfortable. Finding a carrier that is both crash tested and passed the crash test is hard to find. The price was a hindrance but we finally got it. I truly wish we had bought it earlier. It’s priceless to see your beloved pet absolutely comfortable and safe during car travel. The carrier was easy to get secured in the car. It even comes with a cover which we will never use. Two mat inserts come with it. One has a smooth texture and the other is fluffy warm. I just put them both in stacked. He could stand, sit and stretch out. We are considering buying a second.

The TAVO Crispin crash-tested Pet Carrier is very well made. I received the Large in Onyx. Crate pad included is very plush, but suggest offering a DARK shade (gray/black/navy) for not showing muddy paw prints. My Furkid is a 45# lab as shown in pics below. We installed Carrier in the backseat of my Hyundai SUV, as the size was impossible for placing in the front. Pics show box and contents being well packaged upon arrival. Quick-install instructions were printed on a "postcard" & included a QR code to scan for obtaining the complete Owner Manual with Components Listed. Having never installed a Car Seat could be why I found the task time-consuming & a challenge to complete = ***ONLY reason why I rated 4 stars.*** However, once installed I was impressed and confident that my pup would be secure!

Nice carry case. It folds up to fit easily in the trunk. Made from very high quality materials. It’s very easy to assemble, despite the vague directions but I would not deduct a star from the review because of that. Installs in the backseat using the existing child seat hooks and takes up the space of two seats in a Honda CRV. It comes with all the straps. Opens from both sides so you load up the doggo either way. This size Large case fits our 50 lbs dog snuggly. She can’t turn around in it so make sure to face your pet towards their preference, window or inside of the car. She seems to like it.

This impact-tested pet carrier is perfect for my cat and both my medium dogs one 30 pounds and one 55 pounds. The built-in seatbelt system keeps the carrier stable and secure during car rides, offering peace of mind knowing my pets are safe and I can notice my pets feel more secure as well. My cat loves it so much that he fell asleep on the way to the vet and now naps in it on his own at home. The two padded bedding options and detachable privacy pad ensure a cozy experience, while the privacy cover with handle access provides extra security and comfort for my pets during transport and peace during longer waiting times at the vets! Excellent quality secure travel crate

I bought the Medium, Merle Crispin. My dog is around 20-21 lbs. He is about 19" tall and 24" long. He can comfortably stand, turn around, sit up, lay down, and curl up in the Medium. I had a ton of questions which I emailed to Tavo's customer support. They got back to me within a week with all my answers. A+ for customer service - which is something you want with a product this pricey. This ships in the manufacturer's packaging (no chewy box). Assembly was straightforward, but no instructions were included. Tavo's support had emailed me the manual when I reached out, so I referred to that. Zip the sides first, then zip the top piece to the base. The two beds are nicely padded. The white plush bed is incredibly soft. The gray bed has a more durable feeling fabric. I was told to only use one bed at a time in the crate. It comes with two leashes. There are two attachment points in opposite corners, but I was told that they should not be used when installed in the vehicle. I am not sure what the point of them is, but it is nice they are included. I installed this in a Bolt EUV, which is fairly narrow in the back seats. You could not fit 3 adults side by side comfortably. In this vehicle, the Medium Crispin took up 1 seat plus the middle seat. On a normal-width car I would guess it takes up 1.5 seats. The installation is awkward but easy once you understand what needs to be done. The carrier needs to sit flush with the car seat base, and I was initially running into issues where I tightened the strap too much so it was raised up. When properly installed it feels nice and secure. The Side Impact Protection panel is also easy to attach and detach. My dog is coming from a standard sized PupSaver seat. He is still within the weight limit of the PupSaver, but I prefer the Crispin because he has more space to stretch out and change positions. We have an upcoming long road trip and the Crispin will be a far more comfortable riding experience for my dog. Only time will tell if the crate holds up. If it does, then it will be well worth the price tag. Safety in the car is priceless. I would recommend the Crispin.

Super High End carseat/carrier. Think about the most luxurious soft sided suitcase you’ve ever seen and then introduce yourself to this cat/dog carrier-carseat combo that is just as well made. This is the large, but a medium or small would be much more appropriate for a large cat. Unless you have a Maine coon or something, but I still think a medium sized would do. I took my largest cat Zach to the vet in it today. Both the vet tech and the vet said that it was the nicest carrier they had ever seen. They loved it. It is so well made and classy. I picture it in a Range Rover with a fancy dog inside. But it still fit great in the backseat of my Chevy Spark with my cat riding in style. When i unpacked it all three cats were drawn to it like a magnet. Never ever have they done this before!!! It comes with two top of the line beds to go inside as well. The attachments to keep it from tipping or falling are car seatbelt quality. My only negative thought about it is that i think it would be extremely difficult to clean if your pet had an accident. I could be wrong as the fabric is like soft suitcase material and may make clean up just fine. I think a dog that is used to riding in a carrier in their car would consider this a huge upgrade to a regular carrier. If you are on the fence, Go for it!! 😊

At first it felt a little small but Maple can sit, stand, lay and turn around in this all while having it safely buckled in securely. It has plenty of mesh for air movement.

Sturdy, well made, light weight soft comfortable bedding. It is comfortable to carry by the handle for transporting. It is easy to set up. I have the large size that is for dogs up to 60lbs. My average size standard poodle weighing 50 lbs. was too tall and long to lay down comfortable in it. My Aussie weighing 40 lbs fit in it more comfortably and was able to turn around. The height and length of the dog should be considered along with the weight. I would recommend the large size car seat for a medium sized dog considering the need for room to lay down comfortably and to turn around. Be aware that this large size car seat will take up more room than just one seat in the back seat of the car. When secured properly, the dog will be very safe in the passenger seats of the car.

Love this travel kennel! Easy to set up, easy to install in the car and feels very sturdy while still lightweight to manuever and position. Roomy enough that our puppy who is new to crate training happily went straight in and settled. The carry case is convenient, but also just as easy to store with the cover on it when not being used. I like having a safe place for my dogs to travel that doesnt tether them to seatbelt harness.
