Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.
Your pet may have a specific health need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. For example:

Our Maltese female (Belle) has a rather intense snoring (snorting) problem overnight, almost as loud as a human on occasion! Our vet attributed this condition to allergies. He then prescribed Theophylline to help reduce the snoring. We had been using the regular tablets and then wrapped in cheese every night. But when we needed a refill I saw these chew tablets as an alternative, as the 50mg dosage was exactly what was prescribed -- no more pill splitting. When the tablets arrived in two days I was surprised to see how large they are, I must have guessed a smaller size from the website picture, and didn't determine anything beyond that. However, each tablet is about 5/8" in diameter. The first night I gave Belle the chew, she took it and carried it to the middle of the family room and began chewing. The tablets are quite firm, and it took her some time to completely chew and swallow the whole thing. But she liked it which was the real test. So henceforth (great word) I have cut the tablet in half or even quarters and placed them in her dog food dish to eat at her discretion, which she will in little time. The tablets are rather firm and require some "force" to slice them. Overall, I believe the medication is the same with the same results that do reduce her overnight snoring. They are convenient and don't require additional food to make them more palitable to the dog. But be aware of the size of a single tablet for a small dog, and that cutting requires a firm hand.
So glad there is an alternitive to a pill in this product. My girl hates pills and you gave me options. Thanks!
My dog has an enlarged heart and a collapsing trachea. Got prescribed theophylline along with Vetmedin. The theophylline chews work fine, haven’t compared to suspension or tablets/capsules. the only problem is that theyre REALLY hard for my 16 year old chihuahua to chew. I find him swallowing them whole bc they’re too hard for him to chew sometimes. If they could be reformulated to be more chewable, they’d be perfect. Still recommend though, my dog loves med time.
Lucas just plays with the tablet; I've had to wrap it in a bacon flavored pill pocket to get him to take them!
This product is GREAT! I am trimming 6 inches off of my Angora rabbit. She has a very thick angora fur. By the third swipe I had mastered the correct angle! Very quiet and didn’t scare her at all.
I couldn’t find low dose Theophylline in tablet form. Then I checked with Chewy and saw that it came in a chew. My dog has no problem eating this medication.
My dog Dolce was in very painful situation, sever cough. doctors tried few medications, none worked. I took him to urgent care, got this new medication and amazingly within few days started to show improvement, Followed the instruction and my Dolce is back to normal. My appreciation to the doctor, the chewy Pharmacists and for most to chewy that carries the best of products
My dog eat the medicine like a treat but it seems to not be as effective as the actual pill.
My dog takes theophylline for help with his collapsing trachea, we were doing the liquid version before and we had to put it on treats for him to eat it, so we switched to these. He loves the taste, but they are on the harder side (not very chewy) so we have to cut it up pretty small for him to eat.
