I have a rescue dog who is extremely reactive on leash and in the car. movement and other dogs easily send him skyrocketing. a typical car ride with or without a crate involved jamie barking/lunging/spitting/growling/crying etc jumping back and forth over seats if possible, lunging at windows....he would literally shake the car. I am convinced the calming cap is a magical item. When jamie wears it he is calm and his demeanor is curious and much more in a follow mode vs explosions. We have been able to successfully walk through busy city streets without terrorizing the neighbors. we are working really hard to acclimate jamie to new things and things he is afraid of and this cap has really gently I have a rescue dog who is extremely reactive on leash and in the car. movement and other dogs easily send him skyrocketing. a typical car ride with or without a crate involved jamie barking/lunging/spitting/growling/crying etc jumping back and forth over seats if possible, lunging at windows....he would literally shake the car. We have been able to successfully walk through busy city streets without terrorizing the neighbors. we are working really hard to acclimate jamie to new things and things he is afraid of and this cap has really gently and peacefully accelerated our ability to explore new places with ever building confidence. he knows it means he gets to go outside and on walks so now when he sees it he can't wait to put it on. he took to it very easily but he had previously been trained to wear a muzzle and i suspect he was used to things on his snout/face pre purchase. That might be an idea, use training ideas for wearing muzzles comfortably to help teach dogs to wear the cap. … more

  • Thunder cap

I was hoping to walk my dog with the cap on. He’s a dachshund and runs into curbs, it’s too dark. If he sees a dog he bites my leg. So I can carry the cap in my pocket to put on him if danger comes walking our way.

  • It's a fail

Could not even get it on my pooch... she won't have it! Neither the TCap nor the Tshirt worked for our issue, which is fear of traveling in a car. Would not recommend for that purpose. Unfortunately, she got hold of the package and chewed it up so I didn't think I could return it.

  • Hopeful but...

It didn't relieve my dog's anxiety/excitement. In the car, he is out of his skin with excitement...crying uncontrollably. I'm going to keep using it as it seems to lower the noise level a little bit but I was hoping for a miracle.

  • This has been life changing!

    By on

Our elderly dog with hip issues has been a bit grouchy with our other pets playing too close to him (fear of getting bumped). Even though he feels a bit better with meds he's still sketchy- particularly in the morning and evening during the feed and med times when everyone is dancing around in the same smaller space in anticipation of yummies. We've been using the mask until the morning/ evening rush is over and it has made a HUGE difference in his stress level (pretty much non-existent) and ours!

  • Taking my dog to the vet is more calming

    By on

I still have to wait outside on a bench but every dog that goes in the door she is not barking at or whining. She was more calm waiting and even when the vet tech took her to the back she was calm. I found it was best to put it on her right before I take her out of the car because she will take it off if I put it on her before. Every dog is different but this worked for her.

  • Great item

fits perfect and gives the right amount of calmness for my dog. However, he is not calm enough to let me trim his nails while wearing the cap. LOL don't know if he just has a sense of when it's nail trimming time.

  • calming cap

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I use this in the car for my Great Dane, who was becoming reactive to people/dogs walking past the car. It seems to help, but not sure if it was just because it shut him down. Working on building positive association with the calming cap, but it is pretty tight around his muzzle. I may have to cut the elastic on the muzzle to make it more comfortable for him, otherwise it fits well.

  • Cap fits the dog

    By on

I am still in training with the cap and getting it on the dog. I hate this review the product constant reminders when you have not given time for the dog to get use to it and use it.
