XS due to chest size larger than XXS plus 7.6 lbs is over the <7 lbs for XXS. It's a great product!

How does one determine what size doggie Thundershirt to buy?

The calming vest comes in XX-Small and fits dogs with a chest circumference of 9-13 inches and weighs less than 7 pounds. To select the best size we recommend that you measure your dog's chest girth (circumference). To measure the chest girth you'll measure around the broadest part of the rib-cage behind the front legs. If the dog happens to be in between sizes, it's then recommended to select the bigger size.

Is this good for a dog in heat?

Disappointing-Did Not Calm My Dog

I really wanted this to work for my dog, but unfortunately, the ThunderShirt Classic didn't live up to the hype. My small terrier mix struggles with anxiety and it made zero difference. The fit was fine and the material felt soft and well-made. But when it came to actually calming my dog, it just didn't work. He was just as reactive, jittery, and vocal as ever. We tried using it in different situations and for several days in a row, hoping he'd acclimate, but no change. For the price, I expected more than just a snug shirt. It might work for some dogs, but if your pup has deeper anxiety or reactivity, this may not be the solution. Disappointed and still searching for something that truly helps.

That they really worked! Have never tried thundershirt before, but have tried other calming chews and they did not work as well as these.

The Thundershirt is absolutely fantastic, fits well and helps my anxious dogs feel less stress when there is a storm, or I have to leave them at home alone. My one complaint is that the Velcro catches on the fabric of the shirt and it sometimes feels like the fabric could tear if I'm not careful when I'm taking the shirt off of my dogs. The calming chews work really, really well for one of my dogs and not so much for my hyperactive dog. I'd say, try it on your dog and see if they work. Because if they do work, they're totally worth the money.

Our Sam is terrified of thunder, fireworks, and gunshots, all of which are not uncommon in our rural neighborhood. We have been giving him calming chews, which help, but he still spent the July 4th weekend a trembling mess, so we decided to try the ThunderShirt. The combination works wonders; he still gets anxious but seems better able to handle it.
