Gradually transition by adding a small amount of American Journey to your dog's current diet, gradually reducing the amount of the current diet and increasing the amount of American Journey for 7 - 10 days until the transition is complete. For sensitive dogs, we recommend a 10 - 14 day transition.

Lasted less than 5 minutes before it splintered off sharp pieces and had to be thrown away. Very disappointing.

I bought too small last time even though it said L it was smaller than the first one I bought from somewhere else. I was happy to see Chewy has them so switched
I bought too small last time even though it said L it was smaller than the first one I bought from somewhere else. I was happy to see Chewy has them so switched over so I know they are quality and safe. It does splinter some which doesn't hurt the dog if they swallow it so it's only a little mess for me to clean up but the 2 midsized dogs (mine and grand dog) do love to chew them. I'd buy size appropriate as the smaller is just too small (softer it seems) and the bigger dogs destroy them more quickly. I want to buy my 15 lb dog one of her own but I know the bigger one would take it and that would be that. The little one tries to carry the biggest one around and even outside. I think she may be trying to hide it from her sister.

I spray things with bitter apple, and she's not a fan of the added flavoring, but she enjoys the rest of the chewing experience enough to persist anyway. This stick might be the only thing that is more fun to chew on than the wooden stepladder that I use as a laptop table.
Good rawhide alternative
My pup enjoys these. Yes, there are splinters (generally small and soft). No adverse health effects, and much enjoyment. Good alternative to rawhide.

Do NOT buy this item!
Do not buy this item. I gave it to my 12 month old large puppy, and in the first hour, there were large, hard, sharp splinters all over my carpet. He stopped eating
Do not buy this item. I gave it to my 12 month old large puppy, and in the first hour, there were large, hard, sharp splinters all over my carpet. He stopped eating for two days after that, so I was afraid of an internal injury. It turned out it just made him feel sick, but no actual injuries. This bone caused lots of stress and ended up to be VERY expensive (due to the vet visit.)
