For the best fit, match the below dimensions to your pet's measurements as closely as possible. If your pet falls somewhere between two sizes, we advise ordering the larger of the two.
Length: Measure the base of the neck to the base of the tail. Add 2 inches for comfort.
Neck: Measure around your dog's neck leaving room for two fingers.
Chest: Most important measurement; measure your dog's chest around the widest part. Add 2 inches for comfort.

My dog is roughly 27 lbs and is a medium size cocker spaniel poodle mix. I bought a size medium and it fits perfectly. It’s a handsome jacket, well made and designed with a bib that snaps on each side of his belly. It’s great for rain and also for snow as it has a fleece lining. If it’s really cold, there are two sets of snaps so you can expand it an inch or so to fit another layer on underneath. Best jacket he’s ever worn.
My Shih Tzu is larger than standard size. Neck 11in, Chest 18in, 14in long and 17lbs because of this I decided to go with a Medium. It fits exactly how I wanted. Even though his chest and neck measurements don’t meet the size M guidelines the snaps on the sides make it easy to adjust so that the coat doesn’t move around when he goes on walks. The downside is that it’s definitely too lightweight to be used during PNW snowstorms, but I’m happy that the coat will at least cover his chest from getting clumps of snow.
I have a slightly overweight chihuahua cocker spaniel mix- 20.6lbs, 13.5” neck, 22.5” chest. The neck part is a little large for him but the rest fits perfectly. The underside has 2 different clips and elastic stitching to allow for size variants; my dog fits in the smallest setting. Just took him on a 30+ minute walk with him in it, and it stayed perfectly the whole time. The only part that came undone was the Velcro-flap that is supposed to cover the harness insert, but that was a small issue that did NOT affect anything other than aesthetics.
Fits beautifully on an average size cat body, about 10 pounds. Love the very visible reflective strip on the jacket. I layer this over my cat's Frisco fleece hoodie and the Subzero collar holds the hoodie snug against the cat's neck, keeping him warmer. This jacket has a double row of snaps spaced just slightly apart, so you can adjust for a slimmer or chubbier belly. Extremely easy to put on and off the animal. The leash access slit on the back of the jacket has a nice, velcro closure tab which keeps rain out. Love this jacket .. excellent construction and fit .. but you need to know it is not very heavy or warm. The name 'Subzero Storm' coat seems a bit misleading. I layer it over a fleece body sweater. Definitly recommend this product.
I got the X-Large for my 70 lb dog, and it fit well. There are 2 sets of snaps for the sides depending on the chest size. It is not heavy -- it's like a windbreaker jacket with a thin fleece lining, but certainly enough for a big hairy dog that probably does not need a jacket in the first place!
The coat is nicer than the last one I purchased from chewy because it had snaps to close it. The last one had velcro which stopped sticking together after 2 years even though I bought new velcro.
This coat runs 1-2 sizes too small. This is not a subzero storm coat. It's paper thin. It's a wind breaker at best. My dog is a large. I ordered an x large and it was too small. I contacted the company who makes it and told then about the size issue and asked if they could send me an xx large and I would send the other back to them as Chewy didn't carry in xx large. I sent 4 e-mails to company only to be ignored.
This is the second jacket I have boughten. The first one was a different brand and so far both brands have been too small for my dogs even though they fit inside the measurements they give you would be a five-star if it actually fit
Ordered for a mini American Shepard, and it fits perfectly, using the measurements provided on the product page. Easy to get on, and helps with visibility on late evening walks.
This coat is very thin. It is not nearly warm enough to be advertised as subzero! It also is smaller than the measurements on the website.
