Does this house come with the wire enclosure extension? The part with the open air screening. Some images show it...but others do not.

Answer by ChewyMay 18, 2020
This cat house does not include the wire mesh enclosure. It is sold separately through the manufacturer.

What does the inside of the house look like? Are the floors fully separate or are there holes for the cat to move between floors inside?

Answer by ChewyOct 25, 2024
Please refer to the attached photo for an inside view. The top and middle floors have an opening to move between floors.

Can the side panels be switched (so the window and exit are on the right side looking at the unit)?

Answer by ChewyAug 28, 2023
The side panels for this Cat house cannot be swapped on either side. The top of the panels are slanted, so they would not attach to the rest of the house correctly if not installed as normal.

How thick are the walls? Is there any insulation?

Answer by ChewyNov 07, 2023
The walls for this item are .75 inch thick. This item does not include insulation as it is designed to be used in all seasons.

First & second one order both were damaged. Was able to get enough undamaged to assemble. Unfortunately, poor quality & construction: Ie- used staples where screws were needed, exterior shelf fell off on first use. This will not hold up long with the wind, salt & UV rays here. Chewy Customer Service was great helping the situation!

Not for unsheltered outdoor use

I like this, but it's not for outdoor use. It's cute and goes together fast, it's convenient. The wood is soft and I did reinforce all the walls with extra screws

I like this, but it's not for outdoor use. It's cute and goes together fast, it's convenient. The wood is soft and I did reinforce all the walls with extra screws - I have 3 15lb+ cats and I wanted to make it more sturdy, so far so good. I have one in my sunroom and am considering another for my screened in porch. If you're handy, you could definitely build something better, but if not this might do a couple of seasons outside if you add a coat of outdoor house paint and raise it off the ground somehow (the wood is soft and will definitely rot if in contact with the grass). It would need some kind of insulation too, but if you're going to do all that you might as well build one from scratch.

This cat house is beautiful, and spacious enough for my three cats. Arrived in pre-built panels, easy to assemble with only one person. Some of the pieces were just flimsy! The largest door is made of many slats, and one side of the door just disconnected and all the slats have to line up to put back in place. Also, one of the outer shelves that serve as a jump platform, when I attached it the outer wall, the outer wall piece simply fell off the house! A lot of tiny nails were used to build the pre-built panels, which seems to be the reason for the flimsy-ness. I'm going to use better screws and wood glue to repair and strengthen the pieces, and it will probably work to protect my cats outside from weather.
