Lou has IBD, he has used Tylosin for years. It's super expensive in powder forn at the vet, so I wanted to try these. From a price standpoint as well as mg flexibility, they are epic. When it comes to flavor and consistency, not so much. These are chalky, and Lou won't eat them even though they are chicken flavored. So, we've resorted to using sun flower butter with them, and that works great! I'll continue to buy them for the price alone, but I'm bummed I can't just give them to him like a treat.

Tylosin (250 mg compounded) has been very effective in treating our 12 year old Sheltie’s IBS. His little poops are now firm and well formed every day. He has been on Tylosin for two weeks and will continue to take it on a daily basis. Our sheltie has had intermittent soft poop for many years. One or twice a year our vet prescribed metronidazole when the poop became very runny. Besides the runny poop, he felt fine. Eating, drinking, going for walks and playing. About four months ago the runny/watery poop became noticeably worse and only improved with the metronidazole. Once he finished the five days of metronidazole the soft poop returned. Our vet then prescribed a daily dose of Tylosin (250 mg once a day) since metronidazole can’t be taken long term. The tablets are easy to give. We drop the pill on top of his food and mix in water and fish oil. He eats it up every time. We are very pleased with the results.

Pills were very large

I had to split the pills in half to get the correct dosage. When splitting, they usually split into quarters, so I have to give my dog two of them each dose instead

Great medicine for digestive problems

This medicine really works well for our little Shih Tzu who has had severe digestive problems for many years. Also added Famotidine to her new medication regimen which has really helped, too. Tylosin comes flavored so it’s easier to get your dog to take it. Pills are “scored” well if you need to cut them.

Chewy’s pharmacist worked directly with my dog’s care provider to get the meds he badly needed, and this was done as I was on the phone, on hold. It was truly an “above and beyond” service from Chewy and, while I would never have expected it, am so grateful for it. Thank you!

Firstly, CHEWY IS AMAZING!!! The prescription prices, speed of delivery and them being able to contact my vet and get it filled fast - I’m thankful for all, especially prices because once your pet gets sick with anything major you he costs are out of control and will make you poor quickly but then there’s chewy! My vet charged me 27 times more for 10 pills than chewy for 30, so yeah. But tylosin is amazing - easy to break in 4 - no cutter needed, it’s already perforated - large and sharp but I used nail filer to ruff off edges so my cat can swallow it (probably no issue with larger pets) and within days he’s been back to normal, I wish my vet never started with flagyl/metrodizadol or whatever it’s called - too much for a sick cat and didn’t do anything, Tylosin worked fast and effective to clear his stomach bugs.

My senior cattle dog has a history of HGE and diarrhea, but metronidazole always cleared it up. After her emergency gallbladder removal surgery, she had chronic watery diarrhea that was not responding to metronidazole. Her lower abdomen would also make loud gurgling sounds and her stools were particularly stinky. Per her internal medicine doctor's suggestion, we tried a low-fat, kangaroo diet, and even loperamide (Imodium) tablets, but it wasn't until she started Tylosin 250mg twice a day that she had firm stools again (she is ~42 lbs). THANK GOD. It's still kind of bitter, even when compounded, so I have to use a pill wrapper and then mix her pills into a tasty wet food. I still prefer these flavored tablets to a capsule because she sometimes bites into pills, and this tablet should be less bitter than the powder in a capsule. She is 14 and hasn't had any negative side effects from this medicine. Watch for bladder or UTIs when your dog has diarrhea; my dog had a recurring UTI because of the diarrhea and needed clavamox as well.
