Questionable safety

I really wanted to like this barrel decoration. The size and number of holes is perfect for fish, hiding spots, but unfortunately I’ve lost two separate betta fish

I really wanted to like this barrel decoration. The size and number of holes is perfect for fish, hiding spots, but unfortunately I’ve lost two separate betta fish when introduced to the tank with this decoration. The fish had been healthy, and other tanks prior to the introduction.
