Great idea, but unfortunately this execution could use tweaks. First day with it, I filled it up prior to the next day's walk. I made sure everything was secured tightly. Storing it on its side in the fridge, it leaked through the middle section. It did not leak from under cap or the bottom part that screws into the bag. Now, if I intend to store it, I don't fill it up entirely so the top can be folder out of contact with the water inside. The carabiner is held on by a pressure clip. It's fine unless something pushes up on the bottle a little. I found the carabiner popping off at several inopportune times. Permanently affixing one might serve better long term, and be more durable. Then, after carrying the bottle on multiple walks, the middle section kept popping off, dropping the whole bottle on the ground despite the release button being rotated so it's inaccessible. Once this started, it happened continuously, and I've even been able to demonstrate it by hand. This eliminates the option to hang it by the carabiner, which for me was one of the main goals behind getting such a light container. Unrelated to the quality of the bottle, but important to keep in mind when considering it: if your dog has a tendency to aspirate water, particularly moving water like from the hose, then best opt for a bowl or cup instead. My overeager husky kept choking himself, requiring me to place the ball in my hand to simulate a bowl (not a perfect fix), which is my error and has not been factored into my rating score.
Recently my dog became paralyzed in his back legs because of IVDD. He’s recovering from surgery and mostly laid on his side at first. It was uncomfortable for him to drink from a bowl so I bought this and it’s been wonderful. He took right to it. It does splash some while he’s licking the ball, but I put a towel or an absorbent pad down so it doesn’t wet his bedding. Hopefully he will have a full recovery. I can see this water bottle being something we keep using. It would be great on road trips.
Water pours out at the spout, I also saw a neighbor with one who had the same problem.
Got two of these for hiking and camping its much easier to carry than their water bottles and bowls
