I've been looking for a scratching post that wasn't a giant eyesore in my living room. This particular tree had the wood-look materials that matched my living room while still providing ample scratching area. I am pretty hands-on, so the instructions weren't a problem for me, and all of my pilot holes aligned perfectly. It is very sturdy, so for the reviews that mentioned it not being sturdy, I would say something wasn't done properly. The cushions are removable, fairly thick, and very soft. Very happy with my purchase!
I love it my cate hates it: 1. not fun for climbing - the distance from the second to third shelf was uncomfortably too high for my short legged kitty and the space to turn to get onto the 3rd shelf was too short for him to twist his thick body (he's a Himalayan not fat). 2. wrong surfaces - he hated all the pads, i took them off and it was too slippery, himmy feet are furry. 3. toy misplacement - the toy hangs directly over his head and the bottom step is small, giving him no room to maneuver to the side of it to bat at, it just hits him in the eye and he gets upset. 4. bad post textures - cat refuses to recognize sea grass as a clawable thing, sisal is superior. Vesper, feel free to contact me on how to make the perfect cat tree. i see you trying.
I’ve had this tree for 2 months for my now 5 month old kitten. She is a ragdoll that’s almost 6 lbs but seems to be the size of your average house cat. Pros: The tree is very sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. It was very easy to put together, and took 30min. It feels high quality and well made, and I have no doubts of it being able to handle the zoomies! The removable pads feel sturdy and are easy to clean, and it is easy to wipe down all other surfaces. Cons: She has easily taken one of the balls off of the hanging feature. She also struggles to get down from the top onto the box, and often topples over and lands on the floor when trying to come down. The top of the box has a small circular sisal mat, but no cover for the remaining area. This has caused her to slip several times, and made her wary of jumping on it. I added some clear grip tape around the edges where there’s no pad, and this helped a bunch! It’s still easy to wipe down and clean, and adds additional traction for my kitten.
Cat tree came with chipped particle board on the bottom. Of course no one uses real wood anymore but for this price could we not box up a defective piece?? I feel like I should get some of my money back.
The Vesper cat tree looks like a piece of furniture, not a carpet covered pole! No cat lady here, just quality and function!
I’ve had this cat tree for atleast 4years now and it has held up amazing. I love that all the carpeted parts are Velcro so you can pop them in the wash and back on easily. I do get sticker shock every time I see how much the price has increased but I get complements on it all the time.
My cats aren’t interested, despite using catnip and food. It’s a very nice looking cat tree. I”m gonna try another location and see what happens.
I love this cat condo. I ordered one last year and got another one this year because my cats would fight for the top. I have one in black and one in oak! They look great in my home. Will continue to order from vesper in the future.
I purchased 2 of these cat trees, and one of my cats really took to them. I guess I didn't realize how much activity he was getting by climbing/jumping on them, because after about a month I took him into the vet due to some significant weight loss. We did blood work, urinalysis, the works. Everything came back stellar.... turns out he's just getting that much more physical activity in his day! So be forewarned! You cats may love these towers so much - it may cost you a hefty vet bill!
Okay there are a few factors to consider when getting a cat tree. Assembly, machining (properly drilled holes, etc.), sturdiness, design, comfort and price. This masterfully covers all of them! It took less than 30 minutes to put together (and no missing parts or screws LOL), photo directions were simple and wicked easy to follow, it's a one person job and is light enough to move around until you find the right spot for it. But and most importantly, it's aesthetically amazing, so much better than those all fully carpeted trees, very modern and has a small footprint (which helps in NYC apartments). I absolutely recommend this to all cat parents out there.
