Not a good scent

Sampson couldn’t care a less. He lives a bath. He’s a Newfoundland so anytime water is involved he loves whatever is happening! I don’t like the scent of this product

Sampson couldn’t care a less. He lives a bath. He’s a Newfoundland so anytime water is involved he loves whatever is happening! I don’t like the scent of this product. I’m not sure why the manufacturer thought the scent they produced for their dog shampoo and conditioner would be a pleasant lingering scent on a dog but they were wrong and didn’t think it through very well. The product has too sweet of a smell to stay in the dogs coat after washing and conditioning. Especially, when the dog has a more oily coat like a Newfoundland does. I was going to return the products but I have been busy and just didn’t get around to contacting Chewy. I should have stayed with what I always purchase so it was my mistake to try and save a little money. I’ve had to add more medications costs to my budget for my Newfie Sampson, so I’ve been cutting corners where I can.

I’v noticed my dog was scratching more and decided to find a shampoo and conditioner that would help. His scratching went from mild to extreme with this. If your pet is hyper allergic to fragrance or itches in general then do not buy this. I did notice his fur coming off onto my hands with this as well when normally that wouldn’t happen. I can say that his fur has never been softer, but man I wish this didn’t make him itch worse.

Our American Eskimo puppy just got his first bath today. The Veterinary Formula conditioner was easy to massage into his fur, wait, and rinse out. I brushed him carefully and it seems like tangles in his long fur are minimal compared to when I used other conditioners on our previous Eskies. Now he is really soft and the fragrance is not overwhelming. I like that !
