I really wanted to love Vet's Best Flea and Tick waterless bath for dogs. I have a 43 pound hound category Beagle/American Bulldog mix. He loves being outside

I really wanted to love Vet's Best Flea and Tick waterless bath for dogs. I have a 43 pound hound category Beagle/American Bulldog mix. He loves being outside. Occasionally he will come inside with random little crawlies. This product is Made in the USA of natural ingredients. I can use this safely with confidence. The pump is very easy to use, the foam comes out light and fluffy. I like the convenience of a brush in product. After the initial application, the treatment plan is easy as a couple times a week as needed. The smell is not offensive. It isn't my favorite scent, smells like aftershave, but I have smelled worse smells. Here is the downside, when I applied the product my dog relentlessly tried to lick it off. The directions read to let it dry completely before allowing dog ability to groom. Finnegan was determined to lick it up. Personally I would have to use a cone on my dog with this product until dry. And even once dry, my boy likes to groom, I would still be concerned about the product dry on his fur. For my situation, this product did not work.

I finally got to use this product. I have a couple of rescue dogs that I cannot bathe. They are terrified of getting wet. Today I used the Vets Best Flea and Tick Waterless Bath on my rescue white GSD, she had a bad dirt spot on her leg. It worked very well and she enjoyed the massage aspect of me rubbing it into her skin. I then took a damp cloth and cleaned it up really well. It did take off some of the staining on her fur and it was so much easier than trying to wet her down. I also use the Vets Best Mosquito Spray. This is a good brand! It is a natural essential oil repellant and I use it on my dogs, cats and even my horses.

The product has a very mild scent, almost like a very faint chai tea. It is pleasant and you can barely smell it. Our dog Ted did not even flinch when I rubbed it

I cannot attest to the products efficiency on killing ticks and fleas but it definitely does not smell like most flea prevention.

I really wanted to like this product. I use Bravecto for my adult dogs but it’s not suitable for fast growing puppies. I have a four month old puppy who loves getting outside and running all over. So a dry shampoo sounded fantastic. First, i couldnt stand the smell, but the directions scared me more. First you have to spot test it. Then after you’ve rubbed it all over them, you have to let it dry for an hour and watch to make sure they don’t lick it. Sorry, this is a no for me.

Depending on the amount of time your animal is outside may also help determine if this is right for you.
