Our 13 year old lab was on Victor beef dog food last year from July-Dec 2022. We always gradually switch him over when introducing a new dog food. He has had allergies through out his life so we have tried to find the perfect dog food. ( In the past he had been allergy tested, allergy shots etc. ) His skin had NEVER broken out like this before, our vet called it "epidermal collarettes". They were spreading on his back, his hair was getting very thin everywhere. For whatever reason we didn't not connect it with the dog food at the time. When I went back to look at the dates of when I took these photos, that's when I discovered this is the dog food he was on, I only wish I had gotten him off sooner as the vet was treating him with steroids, mediated baths etc thinking he had some sort of bacterial infection. I ended up changing him to another brand of dog food In Jan. 2023 His skin improved and his hair went from being thin to thicker and his skin totally cleared up. He has not broken out since. So apparently there was something in this dog food that cause his severe skin reaction outbreak.
I’ve had dogs in my life for over 30 years the same breed I’ve fed them Victor for at least 10 years the guy at the feed store a couple of years ago told me his concern that Victor had change the ingredients and advised me to switch to another food I should have listed.. my dog got extremely sick after switching from the yellow bag Victor to this beef meal after months of my trying to save him he passed away.. ironically I get a e-mail from chewys saying your food you purchased could be contaminated so please look at the bar code and dispose the bad and wash hands after.. we’ll that’s great and all but that doesn’t bring him back
Never had a bad experience with this food but recently the blue red and green bags are being recalled for salmonella I’m staying with Victoria just gonna not but those three amazing not one recall in 50+ years and you know everyone has a bad day but I’m not putting my dog on the block so I recommend this food to everyone I know but this was to close hope they get it fixed
I store my dog food for the winter, and this is one of the bags. But I got a recall notice a few weeks after purchase - I need to check my lot number, but isn't a few weeks a bit late to recall a product, for those that feed their food right after purchase?
My dog will do anything to avoid eating this food. I have tried mixing it with broiled chicken, chicken juice, hard boiled egg, liver treats, everything she likes and she eats everything and spits this food out all over the floor. I put some water in it and cooked it in the microwave thinking it smash it up and maybe I could get her to eat it that way. I about puked when I smelled it. I feel awful that I’ve been trying to get her to eat this stuff. If you look closely you can even see little hairs in it.
I'm worried by the alimentation of my doggie and would like to reject the food I have already with us concerning the problem if Salmonella you let us know and the Victor food. Let me know how I must proceed!. Thanks!
I've been feeding my 4 dogs Victor for several years. Even my fussy eater loves it. I alternate several different flavors so they don't get bored, but they always eat it with no issues. They are all healthy. I love that it works for all of my babies, ages 4 months, 3 years, 5 years, 16 years.
I switched to another brand (Diamond Naturals) on the advice of a friend - my dogs do better overall on Victor. I'll be back to rotating between the Beef & Lamb with Brown Rice versions.
Due to a mistake on my part our order went to the wrong address. I spoke to Heather at the Chewy Customer Service line and she got a new shipment to us in 24 hours! Our dogs like the food and didn't have to go without. :)
I’ve been feeding this food for a while and love it! I have 4 dogs ranging is size fro 20-70 pounds and in age from 9 months-14 years and they all love this food! It never upsets their bellies and they do amazing on it!
