Overall seems like a good product. My dog gobbled her normal kibble with the beef patty mixed in. I personally didn’t enjoy having to thaw the meat then separate the patties then freeze a select amount so they didn’t expire. I imagine from all of the thaw to frozen, the patty’s toward the bottom of the bag got “yucky.” I unfortunately had to throw the last few patty’s out. Once they thawed they were gray in color and had an odor that wasn’t present in the ones before. I didn’t want to risk giving something expired to my dog.

The Vital Essentials frozen Tripe raw patties were a hit with my two greyhounds. They are already raw fed and have been getting raw green tripe, in some form or another, included with their meals. These frozen patties are a great way to add a little something delicious and beneficial to your dog's diet. They come packed in dry ice and stay frozen for quite a while even after delivery. Just take a patty out, let it thaw in the fridge for ~48 hrs, and add to your dog's meal as a topper. Your dog will thank you for it! Doesn't need to be slowly mixed in over the course of a week. Will not upset their tummies.

I'm sorry to say only one of my 4 dogs would eat this. I used it as a topper and 2 of my dogs would not touch it at all, and one ate around the edges. The prep is simple, it's just an extra step- -throw it in the fridge and wait till dinnertime. Had they liked it I would do it all the time. The texture when defrosted was mushy and the color is gray. The smell was not appealing to my human nose. But again, had they liked it, I would have been happy to use it. The bag is a great size, and has a nice quantity but its packed so it sits easily in the freezer. I wish I could interview my dogs to ask why, as I had high hopes for the good protein in the treat.

When thawed, the tripe had a good consistency.They ate it with gusto and had no digestion problems. Beef tripe can be smelly but Vital’s version does not have a bad odor. I will definitely be purchasing it for them in the future.

I’ll be honest—they look pretty gross once they thaw, and at first my dogs weren’t too sure about them. That said, both of my dogs ended up loving them, even my picky eater who usually turns her nose up at new treats. The appearance might not be the most appealing, but the fact that my dogs like the taste makes it worth it!
