My little chi was in heaven with her little eyes rolling in the back of her head when I first fed her this food and she wanted more! She gets so excited when it’s time to eat and if I’m not feeding her when she wants she will come give me the “stare down.” I mix a little dry with it for the crunch factor but her favorite is the Turkey Entree. A change I made is feeding her 2 times a day versus 1 time since she enjoys eating this so much. I like the block form that this food comes in. It so much easier to divide up and weigh.

This food comes in easy to serve bricks. You will need to defrost the bricks to serve and portion into smaller sizes if needed. The food comes in a variety of different proteins which is nice for dogs with sensitive stomachs, who may do better with specific proteins. I specifically choose the turkey formulation since it matches the protein source my dogs normally eat. One of my dogs loved this food and inhaled it quickly. Unfortunately, she had an upset stomach after eating this food even though it was served in a small amount and contains the same main protein as her normal food. My other dog was unwilling to eat this food. She sniffed it and seemed interested, but never did it eat it when offered. I had hoped to use this to supplement their current food and a a high value treat. Unfortunately, that did not work out. It might be that a different protein would work better. For a raw food, the sizes of bricks and serving sizes worked out well for my dogs.

The product arrived in a well insulated package keeping the bag of patties completely frozen. After cutting the top of the bag open, I realized there was a zipper opening on the front of the bag instead of the usual one on top that I am used to. No worries because I was able to clip the bag shut with a giant binder clip. When I opened the bag, my dogs immediately came over to check out the product. They licked the frozen patties, and one of my dogs even tried to take the frozen patty out of my hand. I decided to feed them this product as a topper, considering the hefty price tag. The only problem was the patties are only good in the fridge for 4-5 days and 1/3 of a patty went to waste. My husband was able to cut all of the frozen patties in half and now I can defrost a patty and it will all get used without any waste. I would like it even more if the patties came in a smaller size. Now the product review... My dogs LOVE this product. I like that it's American made with quality ingredients. I am hoping my dogs get the benefits of a raw diet with the limited serving. Otherwise, they are very happy creatures at meal time.

I received the Vital Essentials Frozen Raw Patties Grain-Free Turkey Entree at the end of August 2025. The patties were pretty big for my little chihuahua and my maltipoo. The Chihuahua was not a fan but the maltipoo was just the opposite. She loved them. Because the patties were so big, I shared them with a friend and her dog LOVED them as well. The patties were delivered completely frozen and loose in one package. I removed them from the package and wrapped them individually so they would not stick together and I could take one out to thaw at a time. Once thawed, they are the consistency of ground turkey you would by at the store. As mentioned, the patties are a good size for a medium to larger size dog. They may be good for multiple feeds for a small dog, depending on how long it can stay fresh in the refrigerator, or if you can cut the frozen patty into smaller pieces. Overall, it is a great product.

Quickest review I've ever written, we only received this product two days ago, but no doubt it's a winner as our shepherd has devoured each patty she's been given. She is very picky, so her cleaning her plate and licking it clean makes me very happy! I like that the Vital Essentials has more juice around the patties when they've defrosted than the other brand's raw patties we purchased before this. They are also deeper in color, the other brand was more pale as if not as fresh. I must add that our cats went crazy for these patties too, and since the ingredients are the same as the Vital Essentials cat variety, its a winner for all! Delivery arrived the day after it was shipped, still frozen solid. We will definitely be trying their other raw varieties, and highly recommend this company and their products!

She loved the duck formula, but the price has gone up, so I thought I would try this instead. I will not be buying it again. I may have to give it away. Very disappointed.

It's raw, not for finicky pups

My finicky pups are not interested in thos raw food, bit they necer had raw food before. I decided to cut it up and baked it. After it's baked, it smelled delicious

Unfortunately, my pu0s didn't eat the cook version either. I like the ingredients... limited and higher quality. I do recommend it for pups that aren't finicky.

When I received the Turkey Entree, it was well packaged for shipping by Chewy and frozen solid. I put it in the freezer and the next day followed the directions

When I received the Turkey Entree, it was well packaged for shipping by Chewy and frozen solid. I put it in the freezer and the next day followed the directions for defrosting patties in the refrigerator. When it was time for Oberon and Titania’s dinner, I got the defrosted patties out of the fridge and put them in their bowls. Wasn’t sure if both dogs would like them, as Titania can be quite the picky eater. Well I had nothing to worry about…they both loved the Turkey patties! And neither had any digestive issues whatsoever with trying a new food. They were a big hit here and I felt really good about feeding them quality ingredients!

Vital Essentials frozen turkey entrée is a superior product. Ingredients are simple and fresh!… Including turkey meat, heart and liver plus other essential vitamins and amino acids for a complete and balanced diet. It came very well packaged in dry ice. The patties are easily accessed and easy to separate for daily use. My dog is crazy about it. No problem in transitioning to raw food. Vital essentials is an excellent choice for my best buddy!
