We were a little unsure when we first got these, given that our cat has a rather small mouth that he's not the greatest at using for the consumption of food, and these are larger than anything we've fed him before - but those concerns evaporated in seconds, because the cat adores these. They shot straight to the top of his Favorite Treats list (even beating out the tiny shrimp from the same brand, which were the previous number one) and now all we have to do is say "minnows!" in the sing-song "treat voice" to have him running for the kitchen from wherever he is.

You can hear the crunch when the cat chomps on them, and he seems to find that more satisfying than the usual hard/soft treat crunch (probably because this really is what prey would feel like, just a little more desiccated). We like the fact that there's nothing else in there as filler...he likes the fact that he gets to gobble down tiny fishes. Plus, no crumbs left over! It's a win-win.… more
No Unnecessary Ingredients and Tasty
on Jul 21, 2018
One of my cats absolutely loves these. I use these as a reward after I clip his nails. My other kitty likes them but doesn't love them, sometimes not finishing ones she has chewed. Unlike other reviews, I'm not going to take a star off of the product for that because there is nothing wrong with the product itself, it's just one of my cat's preferences. I am a huge fan of Vital Essentials, and love that they don't have unnecessary ingredients or fillers in their products and that their products aren't cooked but freeze-dried.
Rehydrated Them, Cats Like it Better
on Aug 6, 2018
My cats didnt seem too enthusiastic about them when I initially introduced them. I know thrh like the chicken ones, especially when rehydrated, thus I thought maybe this would be the same way. I added them to their nightly water/dry kibble mix and they gobbled them down so quick!!! I was surprised. Maybe those whose cats dont like them dry, try to rehydrate them!!! Worked for us
My cats LOVE these!

I wasn’t sure if my cats would eat these because they didn’t like dehydrated shrimp but they love these little fishies! I felt like a rock star with a bunch of groupies. My new kittens (who have been a bit aloof so far) were climbing all over me to get to these fish. And boy..... do these things stink! Very reminiscent of feeding fish to seals at Sea World. I had to put the bag inside a ziplock to keep the cats from smelling them and hide them on a high shelf. I will definitely buy more of these!!

My first time, buying this, brought specifically for , training or spoils. At first Birdie, just rubbed up against, the fish in my hand. I thought I made, a mistake in buying. But when I put, it on the floor, she went after it and scarfed it down. So happy, with purchasing. I'mma buy more and for now save in wishlist.
Not all cats like fish
on Jun 25, 2018
Stereotypical cats are fish lovers which is not true at all. Despite that, I ordered it to give it a try as my kitty loves freeze dried salmon. Well....the freeze dried minnow does not have the superb fragrance of freeze dried salmon. Kitty walked up to sniff it and turned her head right away. I tried to leave it in her bowl over night but she still refuses to eat it. Do not buy if you are not sure if your cat likes Minnows, it is going to be a waste of money
This treat is Slam dunk!

My nine month old kitties LOVE these minnows! We've been buying these treats for a couple months now, and the kitties still get very excited and manage / digest them without issues. The minnows have encouraged our kitties to respond to commands more too. These treats are a must buy!
A new take on cat treats
on May 31, 2018
These are a break from the ol' crunchy treats. Bought them for my kitten who loves fish. Ironically, she did not want to eat them. My other cat who prefers chicken based products loved them. Will buy again as they are a change from their typical treats.
This was a surprise

We have one of the fussiest fussy cats I've ever known. She started out feral and would eat anything (goldfish crackers included), then little by little she stopped eating all but a couple specific kinds of fish flavored canned food. On a whim we got her a bag of these Vital Essentials freeze dried minnow. Not really expecting much enthusiasm from her, we were shocked when she went crazy over them. Now she paces around the cabinet where we keep them until someone walks in that direction, then she begs mercilessly until they break down and give her some. I haven't tried them personally, but if our fussy cat likes them, they must be good. I highly recommend them.
Cat Had No Interest
on Aug 2, 2018
Hmmm, well our kitty loves freeze-dried chicken and she loves fish, so we thought we'd try these. She had absolutely no interest in them LOL. I assume other cats would like them and they do appear to be good quality, so I gave them 2 of 5.
