Bought this a while back but since I have a professional groomer I only wanted this as a quick backup for my dogs feet. The unit is beautiful and it is the batteries that are the problem. I have honestly only used this unit about 4 times since I purchased. The batteries will not hold a charge! This product has been reviewed on other sites than Chewy with the same issue. Not the unit. The terrible batteries! I am now stuck with trying to call Wahl to see if they will replace the batteries and to buy them they are expensive. Chewy does not carry the replacement battery for this cute unit. Way too expensive for this to happen to a Unit that honestly was not used by me more than a few times. Just want folks to know this. Love Chewy. This was just a bad purchase.
I gave three stars only because it does a fine job trimming when it stays charged. I bought the pink version a few years ago. It had issues from day one. Shame on me for not contacting the company at that time. So now I deal with an extremely short battery life from both batteries. Even the charging station has issues. The clipper itself is excellent and the adjustable height is handy. I mostly use this for sanitary trims on my two longhair cats. Fortunately, it only takes a couple of minutes for each cat, and that’s about all the batteries will last at full charge. It’s a shame because it really is a nice clipper. It fits the hand well, is lightweight, and is small enough to get in where a larger clipper won’t. Too bad Wahl won’t correct this problem even after a few years. Instead, for $60 plus postage, they want us to send it in for repair.
Sorry to report I am also having battery issues after my purchase in March of 2022. It worked great at first but that did not last.
Upon first use, the blade was sharp enough to cut my standard's coat without any problems. I moved quite quickly on him this time and without any nics or scrapes. Very impressed thus far. Will add a picture on my second go round.
I bought this trimmer to do detail work on my standard poodle and I guess I expected more from wahl. The battery life is poor, luckily it came with 2 batteries. His hair also gets under the blade heavily and I have to detach the blade to clean it out often. And lastly, the blades seem to be dull already. I've used these 4x so far in the last 6-7months. I will stick to my corded devices!
To begin with; I am not a professional groomer, but I am not a beginner. I have groomed my high-strung little guy for years. I have trusted Wahl for human and animal products. I have owned these for approximately a year and used them 4 or 5 times. They are completely useless at this point. The main issue is the housing where you slide the battery in is not tight enough. They have never been dropped, but by the vibration, the seams have loosened so when the clipper is turned the battery will lose contact and it slows to a crawl. When it did work decently (1st two cuts) it took both batteries to finish. Just a garbage product, and not cheap. I broke down and bought a cheap clipper online, China made and it cut beautifully and only used 15% of the batter life for the same job. I try to buy from American companies but this was an awful experience. I should have just set $125 on fire on my lawn, same thing.
I loved the fact it was cordless and came with 2 rechargeable batteries you can switch out while working. But over the course of the year the batteries did not hold much of a charge. Also the blades became very dull. And I’ve only used the clippers a hand full of times. I have 2 cocker spaniels and clip them once a season. So a grand total of 8 sessions.
I like the adjustable blades. The small size is so easy to handle. The battery compartment is difficult to open. I was surprised at how loud it is. I bought it to use on my Toy Poodle puppy. It scares her so I can't use it. I do like the convenience of cordless!!
One of my cats has very fine fur that tangles and mats easily even with regular brushing. We’ve tried many different clippers and it seemed like they couldn’t ever get through her fur. The one clipper that made it through her fur would get clogged on every pass. This is the first clipper I’ve owned that goes all the way through her fur without clogging! It cuts so well that it doesn’t feel like I’m cutting anything at all. It’s fairly quiet, so I’m able to get neck and chin mats out quickly without much stress. It doesn’t seem to heat up very quickly either. I was able to shave half of her body in a fraction of the time it normally takes, leaving both of us much happier. I highly recommend this set!!
Hello fellow animal people - I've read the reviews and could have been scared off of these clippers. BUT, I took a chance and, boy oh boy, am I happy. I have an 18 lb. rascal of a rough coat terrier and these do the trick every time. The amazing Arco is fairly quiet, stays sharp (I've used mine for over a year and the blade is still sharp), and comes with two batteries (although I've never had to go to a second battery during a grooming session.) If you are on the fence, buy these, you won't be disappointed!
