First, the shelves do not stay attached to the bars, so my pets fell several times before I removed them completely. Next, the chinchillas have pulled bars off and escaped after less than 3 weeks of use, the cage is garbage and I wish I could get a refund.

Not for Big Pets

This was given to two larger rats about a year old for a few months and was absolutely ruined. Cheap wire too, which can cause foot issues.

I bought this cage for my 2 rats and it is the perfect size for them to have plenty of space, but not too much that it becomes difficult to clean regularly. The ladders and platforms are easy to remove and clean, and the bottom is metal which also makes clean up very easy. I love that it has a metal bottom so I don't have to worry about my critters chewing their way out of it, and it gives them a nice solid floor to walk on. I use cardboard and other flooring on top of the platforms so they aren't standing on wire but that's really my only complaint. The cage is sturdy enough it has supported me attaching wire baskets and other small platforms throughout for them to climb on. I also love that it has 2 doors at different levels that makes it much easier to reach throughout the cage to clean it. The top door is much bigger than the bottom so I use it for adding most things to the cage, but the bottom door definitely helps with cleaning and doing anything along the bottom of the cage. This cage also folds up easily for storage when not in use. It does only have 2 clips to attach it to the base pan and the platforms aren't super sturdy, so I'm not sure how it would do with larger animals, but it works great for my rats.

Firstly, when I had purchased this it was much cheaper (around $90) which seemed much more worth the price. However, I would not recommend this cage considering it's current price is much more expensive. This cage is great for travel/temporary housing for a chinchilla given how easy it is to fold and store away. However, I wish the shelves were not wire, which is terrible for chinchillas' feet and should never be used. Additionally, the doors do not shut close tightly which makes it quite easy for my chinchilla to open it with just the weight of his body. Therefore, in order for this cage to work as a decent home, some modifications are required. I just ended up replacing the wire shelves with wooden ones I had purchased. Also, I had to use paper clips to fasten the doors in place. The cage itself is also slightly flimsy, so I would be careful with the amount of items I'd hang on/in the cage. Overall, this cage would be absolutely wonderful if you didn't have to modify it.

As a chinchilla owner that has to temporarily relocate from time to time, this makes a nearly perfect travel cage. It is very simple to fold back up and take with you, and it's not too large or heavy. It is just the right size for my chinchilla to rest in as well. However, it does require some extra adjustments/additions in order to make it a comfortable and safe cage. For starters, the platforms are basically completely useless and will need to be replaced with some other type of shelving. Since the platforms are just a wire mesh design they are not very safe for my chinchilla's feet. Also, they are quite flimsy and do not attach that securely to the whole cage. Secondly, the two front doors/openings are not very secure either. My chinchilla can easily open it just by leaning against it. Therefore, in order to avoid him from escaping, I have to add my own make-shift latches that prevent the doors from opening. I'll usually just use paper clips, binder clips, or even safety pins as latches. Overall, this cage serves as a pretty nice base to work with. However, you'd have to be prepared to make/buy some extra adjustments in order for this to function as a proper cage. So far though, it is one of the easiest travel cages I have come across.

I definitely prefer my single critter nation cage, but this is a good travel cage (which is why I bought it) or cheap option if you are willing to put a little effort in. It seems sturdy, but will definitely shake with animals moving around in it. The bottom is metal, so it really is chew proof! The shelves aren't very sturdy, I might ziptie them in place. The doors also aren't extremely secure. If you have any other animals that could hurt your pocket pets, I would use a binder clip or something to keep the doors shut. The door also had a the paint peeled off when I got it :/

The fact this is labeled for a chinchilla is absolutely laughable. I bought it for my 2 rats, of average size, within 10 minutes there were major issues. Without some modifications and obnoxious jerry rigging the shelves and ramps were shifting and collapsing underneath. The doors are sketchy and I placed extra clamps on those as well to ensure the rats would be safe and secure. As is, i would deem it acceptable for mice/gerbils etc but not anything bigger if you dont want to put extra work into it
