We Love Doodles Curved Grooming Slicker Dog Brush, Medium

As a professional groomer, I will say this is a good brush. So far, I’ve used it on a Shih Tzu, Cavalier, Yorkie, Husky, and of course a Doodle too, to test it out. It didn’t do much for the Husky, but her coat was in good shape. I can see it working better if she had a packed undercoat though. On the Shih Tzu, it did well for some light matting, the heavier matting it did struggle with and they just needed to be cut out. On the Yorkie and a Cavalier, it took care of all the small matting and the tangles like a hot knife through butter. The Doodle however, it did not do that well with. The coat was too thick and the pins of the brush too long to be sturdy. It had a hard time getting even the light matting out, let alone any heavy mats. The brush pins are much longer than the average slicker brush (pictured) which in the case of the doodle, was a disadvantage. I can also see it being a disadvantage if you don’t know what you’re doing and are not careful brushing your dog, as you will irritate your dogs skin with these extra long pins. Overall, as stated, it is a good brush but not for doodles in my opinion. At that price point, there are cheaper options available that work well on a doodles coat. It does work well on dogs with a longer, thinner coat, such as a long haired Shih Tzu, but definitely use caution to not hurt your dog.
