Cat will not touch the turkey and chicken liver pate

My kitty will only eat the wellness complete pate chicken entree but will NOT even try to eat the Wellness Pate (turkey, Chicken liver recipe). I thought they would be similar so something about the pate chicken flavor that he will only eat. Maybe the Core pate turkey, chicken liver recipe is more drier?
