Very thin sheet metal is worrisome.
I've had mounted for one day and while this looks pretty squirrel-proof the sheet metal perches are not up to the task. Squirrels are jumping over to the feeder
I've had mounted for one day and while this looks pretty squirrel-proof the sheet metal perches are not up to the task. Squirrels are jumping over to the feeder and have bent one of the perches so it will not close. I was able to bend it back but this could have been avoided with a heavier gauge metal. Also the perches are very close to the food, which is fine for small birds (chickadees, finches, nuthatches, titmice) the larger birds seem to avoid it. This feeder replaces a cedar trough/platform feeder that was swarmed with birds and squirrels too, I hope the larger cardinals and bluejays return.

This feeder was a replacement for a similar one we'd had for many years. We like that the birds can use both sides. We mounted it on the same pole as our old one,

We mounted it on the same pole as our old one, and use a squirrel baffle, so no problem with the squirrels getting to the food. (But just a note that a pole adapter is not included with this model if you choose to mount it rather than hang it.)

Not Squirrel Resistant
At first I thought this was going to be squirrel resistant - but alas, the squirrel perches on the top roof and just picks out without triggering the bar and closing

I can not recommend this product at this price because my squirrels had NO problem accessing the seeds. They merely stood on the top and reached down so they did

It did take them a few days to figure it out but resistant I can not agree with that description,

The squirrels haven't been able to chewy up the bird feeder. The birds love it. I'll have to try another for my backyard.
