Due to canine epilepsy I was looking for a lower carb food to lessen seizure activity. After spending days scouring the web about low carb dog food, I finally found this brand. Chewy says ‘This recipe contains a carbohydrate content of 9.8% on a dry matter basis’ now, I’ve read diff amounts listed for this brand, but they’re still all lower than most others. The dogs FREAKING LOVE IT. The cat tries to steal it. Hahah.

Our dog was raised on Wysong's puppy food and Adult dry kibble. When product shortages affected the availability of the standard Wysong Adult food, we opted to try this Optimal Performance food. Our dog has never turned his nose up to anything we put in his bowl. He typically devours his meals within 1 min of being let loose. While he ate the first serving of this without delay, he has left food in his bowl each subsequent feeding and now refuses to eat this food unless we mix it with wet food or meat broth. I would not recommend purchasing this product, but do like other Wysong products.

Bought my first puppy, wanted to give her the best. After some searching I found Wysong. Top quality ingredients, price beats direct from company ordering. Quick delivery, had my order in less than a week with standard shipping. There standard food beats most premium dog foods, there Optimal performance is off the hook on protein. One down side, all the dry food are small pellets. My boxers jowls seem to hold some and drop out later, so sweeping around the feeding area is needed if she doesn't clean up after herself.

I so wanted to love this food. The ingredients looked great, the marketing of it phenomenal in terms of speaking to a choosy dog owner who wants the best for her pups. My dogs used to zip to their dog bowls, they now meander over slowly when i put it down. I gave it two months for my Australian Shepherds, 5 & 7 years old, Junebug & Moses. Poor things started out super gassy, tummy gurgling, have had loose stools which have remained stuck to their fluffy butt fur, they've been getting me up a lot to let them out at night. I really gave it a chance as i thought, this food was really good, I've known loyalists to Wysong for 20 years. I was willing to pay the price, to give my babies the best. Now I'm literally paying the price and my pups tummies are not happy. I will not even buy another bag to switch them back to Rachael Rays Nutrish line which they had loved. My recommendation, DO NOT BUY.

Discovered Wysong about 15 years ago, as an experimental purchase to try to find SOMETHING that our 2 picky eaters wouldn't abandon before the bag was gone... we've never turned back. The few times we ran out & tried to substitute "store" kibble literally resulted in dramatic whining by our very picky min. border collie!
