WARNING- Shady Company and possible dangerous Phosphorous levels

I discovered Wysong's Epigen 90 cat food and was feeding this option for years, after Dr. Elsey's added pork plasma to their dry food, causing my cats to vomit uncontrollably

I discovered Wysong's Epigen 90 cat food and was feeding this option for years, after Dr. Elsey's added pork plasma to their dry food, causing my cats to vomit uncontrollably. I wanted a high protein, low carb option, so I tried Dr. Elsey's. The Epigen 90 just was not right for them, and after a while, instead of remaining lean and evergetic, like they did with the Dr. Elsey's low carb option, they gained weight and became extremely lethargic. I knew with a gut feeling that their food was making them like this, especially since they had vet visits recently. I changed them to the Wysong Restore, but after reading about how shady this company is in multiple reviews, I learned that the phosphorous and calcium levels could be contributing to some of their kidney symptoms, so I decided to reach out to the company, since the FDA REQUIRES a company to provide this information to the public. We should all have a right to know what is in the food we purchase for our cats, right? Exactly. So, when I reached out to Wysong, it was a complete joke. Their customer service rep told me they have no information at all about the Phosphorous levels, and that I could e-mail their technical support to ask if they have it. Technical support?! I e0mailed them a few times and they replied back to me just yesterday and their response was shocking. They said they have no information for me, and they don't recommend feeding on a percentage basis. This basically tells me the food has high Phosphorous levels, so be extremely careful with this, as it is dangerous to give high levels to any cat, especially aging cats. I am more than disappointed with this company and will never purchase their products again, as it could pose a real harm to my cats' health.

After months of trying prescription and high protein foods, including Epigen 90, I’ve finally found a food that curbs my diabetic kitties’ appetite and lowers his stubbornly high insulin. I just saw that Chewy is discontinuing this item, but your website still lists it for sale. PLEASE keep this food Wysong. No other food comes close, not Epigen90, not prescription foods, not the popular YoungAgain from Canada. After having 2 kitties who’ve never been remotely overweight and have always eaten high quality boutique pet foods developed diabetes, I started digging. There’s not a lot of articles out there, but I found a few and a great deal of studies. I’ve spent hours and hours studying. And I’ve used AI to help me further learn the nuances of all this and figure this out. The first huge thing I noticed is that almost every single boutique pet food is now dominated by peas, pea protein, pea fiber, it’s almost the entire beginning of every ingredient list. This didn’t exist 5-7 years ago. My vet had mentioned that there were some lawsuits against these companies, because it’s appearing that peas block the absorption of taurine and it’s causing lots of heart issues in pets. I know the ‘go to’ reply to this by some is that it’s not proven, but I believe that’s mainly coming from propaganda. Most every vet now warms against these foods because of these heart issues. However, the prescription foods the vets promote have their own set of issues. I’ve spent so much time studying what ingredients to look for and there’s honestly not a lot of good options out there anymore. Some of Wysong’s foods are excellent. First Mate also looks excellent. But I’ve struggled to find any others. After comparing ingredients between Wysong’s Restore & (more popular) Epigen90, I see that Restore’s ingredients are superior. There’s no meat isolates, which often have free glutamate and can complicate blood sugar and insulin issues. Restore also has good fiber sources & healthier oils to help them stay full, and yeast cell wall to feed friendly gut bacteria. But Epigen90 has meat isolates, yeast extract, & natural flavors, which can all contain free glutamate or MSG and disrupt their endocrine system. It’s odd they come from the same company. And ALL other boutique pet foods that I’ve found, except First Mate, has pea protein which not only creates “free” glutamate but also causes the heart issues. I love First Mate’s commitment to high quality ingredients, but they don’t have a super high protein option like I need for my 2 diabetic kitties. Only Wysong Restore offers what I need. I beg you to please not get rid of it. It’s been such a difficult road finding something that works. The way my kitties responded to it is remarkable. No other wet or dry food out there works like Wysong Restore is working, not even close. It is answered prayers.

It's hard enough to find cat food your cat will actually eat, that isn't going to make them sick, plus you have to break the bank to afford the inflated prices (i have to spend more on my pet's food than on my own grocery!), but I do NOT APPRECIATE paying for a BAG OF DUST! The last 2 bags I actually had to SIFT the kibble so my cats would have 'actual kibble' to eat, and not have this 'disintegrated mess' all over the floor from having a cat 'breathe' on it! What is WRONG with these pet food co's that they THINK they will keep a customer if they 'cut corners' by not caring at all about QUALITY CONTROL!? I now will have to spend 'days and days' searching yet again for another DIFFERENT brand of kibble, while still having to be 'stuck' feeding this MESS of a product, unless Wysong gets their act together!

I finally get into more than half the bag to discover it’s now mostly powdered crumbs and dust. The bottom 1/3 of the bag is this way. I liked the ingredients and everything else but this is unacceptable for the price paid. Also, I was feeding to cats who liked it ok enough until the texture turned to powder. The company wouldn’t disclose the phosphorus content which is concerning. I wouldn’t recommend or buy again.

Didn’t know this existed!

I’ve bought the more well known high protein cat kibble (Wysong Epigen 90, Young Again, Dr Elsey’s), but really disliked that they bulked up their protein content

I’ve bought the more well known high protein cat kibble (Wysong Epigen 90, Young Again, Dr Elsey’s), but really disliked that they bulked up their protein content using pork protein isolates. Not sure how they were able to formulate it, but this doesn’t contain any protein isolate and it contains no pork! My cats all loved the kibble so much they’re refusing to eat their wet food. This is my favorite of all of the high protein dry cat food.

The second ingredient was organic chicken. The list was very basic.

They liked it at first but, later experienced vomiting and diarrhea.

I tried this for the first time last week. One of my cats has diabetes, and it's hard to give just one kind of food and the others different. I have four cats, and all four of them really like this food. I am happy to have come across it. I really like the ingredients too!
