Is the metal on the top removable?

The bamboo tower came in a busted up box that was for another product. After taking it out I immediately noticed the tin foil nailed on the top and bottom. You are not supposed to give a parrot anything foul. So i proceeded to take the foil off of the product and it was not easy. Then had to remove all the nails as well since I would give my bird anything with nails that could hurt her. There was no way to hang the item so she could try it out so I initially placed in bottom of cage. She was more afraid of it then liking it so I found twine and hung it from the top of her cage. Its very large and again she was not interested in trying it. I left for a few days hoping she would give it a try. After a few days I did notice a couple of marks where she had chewed on it. But its not something she really cared for. I gave 3 stars because another bird type may actually like it, mine did not. I would not purchase this for her but i would not discourage anyone from trying it out. I would highly suggest tho not having nails or tim foil on the item as they are not good for birds. I am not sure tho that I would recommend it either.
Not safe for birds

The wooden part is fine seems like something African gray would enjoy- dried sugarcane or bamboo? However, the tin pieces nailed into top and bottom (soda cans from Mexico) have very sharp edges. I tried to remove them and got them off with some difficulty. However, I can’t get all the little finishing nails out so I couldn’t safely give it to my bird. Would have been better if tin pieces were left off.

This product is a piece of bamboo with both ends covered with a roughly cut and shaped piece of an aluminum can. If you take it off (nailed on) you can see the other side with a pop label printed on it (or some other drink). This is super-dangerous for a bird which is what it's purported to be for. I cannot believe Chewy is selling this and I reported it to them via phone call. With the poor quality of the product and being it is foreign-made, even with the metal removed, I'd not trust it to be toxin-free. It went in the garbage.

I anticipated that the Shreddable Bamboo Bird Nest Toy would be something my lovebirds would enjoy, since they chew everything. My birds were afraid of it, probably due to the large size. I tried it standing and sideways in two different cages, and it was not touched in either. It may be more appropriate for larger birds, but did not work for my lovebirds. It is well made. I was surprised that my birds had no interest. I plan to try again after leaving it within sight and letting them get used to it.
