Zealandia Dog Nutrition from New Zealand “Brushtail Pâté” is one of my pup’s favorite foods available on chewy. We started mixing it in with her prescription wet food and have now found a magical combination that she absolutely loves. The pâté adds a new flavor to her food that she can’t get enough of, and this little pup scarfs down her meal like it’s the best thing on the planet! I love seeing her eat and enjoy this new food. It will be a regular addition to her meals from now on.

The pate is hearty and moist, neither runny nor overly-dry. The smell is enticing. You've asked, however, that my review is honest. I am concerned about the main source of protein in this product - brushtail possum. If what I've found on the internet about the animal is accurate, brushtail possum is considered a nuisance animal in New Zealand. It is a wild animal, not raised in an agricultural setting. In the Southwest USA, wild horses have been "harvested" because of overpopulation and "nuisances" to ranchers. In the Great Lakes Area of the USA, Canadian Geese have been "harvested" because their numbers pose a nuisance to homeowners and to parks due to the quantity of their droppings; these "harvested" animals have been used for pet food. Use of those animals for that purpose, in New Zealand and in the USA, is something I do not support as being ethical, and as such, I would not purchase this product. If the brushtail possum were raised ethically in an agricultural setting I would consider purchasing this product because Lexi really enjoys the food.
Perfect pate for adding to my greyhound's meal
I am always looking for something to add as toppers for my greyhound's kibble. They can be picky eaters especially for their AM meal. This pate was a great addition
I am always looking for something to add as toppers for my greyhound's kibble. They can be picky eaters especially for their AM meal. This pate was a great addition. I warm a little up and put it in their kibble and they are both members of the "clean plate club" with no digestive issues later. The can is small enough that I can use it in two meals. I love that it is grain-free, organic and is farm animal compassionate. It also has vitamins and minerals included. It does have a distinct odor, but it is not objectionable, and I think it helps entice my picky eater to finish her meal. I also use it to give our one hound her pills. The pate is perfect to mold around the pills.

My husky, Timber, is usually a picky eater, but Zealandia Brushtail Dog Food blew him away! He ate it like nothing he’s ever had before — I’ve never seen him so

This is hands down his most favorite dog food ever. The quality ingredients and unique protein make me feel good about what I’m feeding him, and his coat and energy have never looked better. We’re definitely sticking with Zealandia! He is hooked.

This is a very interesting protein but was fascinated that in New Zealand it is considered invasive. This is a pate wet food and one of my dogs liked and one won’t touch it. The one who won’t touch it can be particular about canned wet food. For the one who does eat it, overall disnt mess with my dogs tummy and he gobbles it up.

However, even with trying to slowly transition my dogs to this food they both wound up with stomach distress (and you could smell the distress from across the house). Maybe if your dog doesn't have a sensitive stomach this would be great but it just didn't work for us.

Even though this food is advertised for smaller dogs, I have a 100 pound lab and this food is a great topper. I primarily feed Otis a raw diet, however when we travel I feed kibble for ease. Since Zealandia is in a small can, it is easy to toss in a travel bag and then mix in with his kibble at meal times to help bridge the gap.

It comes in smaller cans, which is nice because I can give it as a topper or treat and don’t have to worry about the food going bad. It says bushtail paté but it does have lamb in it too.
