I have actually managed to clip a few of Norman’s nails with this, and that’s a first in the almost 12 years we’ve been together! My fear of cutting in the wrong place was a major factor in why we never did it, so that’s why I gave this tool a shot. It’s extremely easy to adjust the aperture, and the one I received seems to be properly sharpened as it cuts cleanly. For those who have problems with their pet’s nails splintering, try rotating the tool 90 degrees so that the blades are closing on the nail from the sides instead of the top and bottom (or vice versa, depending on how you’ve been holding it). The one issue I’ve had is that it can be difficult to maneuver the tool onto claws that are overgrown and as such have an exaggerated hook to them- they’ll go in eventually, but Norm’s patience for paw handling is limited to about 30 seconds at a time, so sometimes the clock runs out on me before I’m able to get one clipped. I’m sure in time we’ll both get used to it, and once they’re all trimmed it will be easier to maintain them.

Works Well on Thinner Nails
I bought this to replace an old cat nail clipper that I've used for my small pups for years, and while it works for one of my pups it is useless on my other pup
I bought this to replace an old cat nail clipper that I've used for my small pups for years, and while it works for one of my pups it is useless on my other pup. Backstory: I have been trying to replace an old pair of standard cat nail clippers (that I bought over a decade ago) that had recently dulled. Dog nail clippers are all too large for my 2, 12lb dogs, so I have been trying multiple cat clippers with mixed results. I've used the Zen clippers for a couple months now and worked great for my female pup who has thinner nails and is a lot squirmier than her brother during nail trims. I've had trouble trimming her nails in the past and have quicked her a few times because she moves so much, so these clippers were great since I no longer have to worry about cutting too far and quicking her. However, these could not get through my male's slightly thicker nails, which is incredibly disappointing given the price. I've found the cheap standard cat clippers work better on him. Overall I'm not sure they're worth the money.

It was dull from first arrival
I bought this a couple of years ago. It was dull from the beginning. It does not cut all the way through a cat's nail and leaves shreds. It is not even good
