About Zignature Dog Food

Learning From Nature

Learning From Nature

Zignature took all of nature's best ingredients and added key nutrients to create a dog food with complete nutrition. In these Physiologically Tuned formulas, meat always comes first, and they've eliminated common allergy-inducing proteins and fillers that are hard to digest. These grain- and gluten-free recipes feature premium proteins, low glycemic carb sources and a limited number of ingredients. It's exactly what your pup should be eating—nothing more, and nothing less.

Meat-First Philosophy

The first ingredient in any list is the most important, because it tells you what the majority of the food is made of. Some commercial pet foods take the easy way out with high-starch carbs near the top of the list. In each of Zignature's dry foods, meat not only comes first, but also second. A quality animal protein source starts off the recipe, followed by a meat or fish meal for an extra helping of the amino acids your pet needs and the flavor he craves.

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

All of Zignature's formulas are free of the most common canine allergen—chicken. And that includes chicken eggs, meal and by-products. As hypoallergenic foods, both wet and dry formulas also avoid the usual sources of stomach upset, including gluten, grains, corn, wheat, soy and dairy. Zignature never uses binding agents that are full of simple carbs and starches; instead, these recipes have low glycemic legumes that deliver extra protein and fiber.

Simple Is Best

Zignature isn't just the diet nature intended—it's even better. They've improved on nature's recipe to give your pup the right amount of each nutrient, and they've done it with the fewest possible ingredients. Just like meals in the wild, these recipes are limited in content for easy digestion and less chance of food sensitivities. These limited ingredient diets have single protein sources, so they're easy to rotate to give your dog a taste of something new.

Only the Best Ingredients

Only the Best Ingredients

To create these nourishing dishes, Zignature gathered the best possible ingredients from trusted sources around the world. Trout, salmon and whitefish all come from the Pacific waters of the Northwest; turkey is raised in the Midwest; duck comes from farms in Western France; kangaroo is brought over from Australia; and venison and lamb are delivered from New Zealand farmlands. Healthy fruits and veggies are harvested from several North American farms based on the season.

Ingredients

Zignature makes nutritious formulas with no artificial flavors, preservatives or colors.

CHICKPEAS: Low-glycemic legumes that promote stable blood sugar and provide an excellent source of dietary fiber, extra protein and copper.

FLAXSEED: Derived from whole, ground seeds of the Flax plant for an outstanding offering of omega-3 fatty acids for coat health, plus soluble fiber for digestion.

ALFALFA MEAL: A natural grass that's rich in vitamins A and C, niacin and calcium, and it also makes a great source of protein and fiber.

SUNFLOWER OIL: Pressed from sunflower oil, it supplies the omega-6 essential fatty acids that your pet needs to maintain skin and coat health.

  • Novel protein for my Labrador

    By on

My 10 year old labrador was recently diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. She was loosing her outer coat and it was not as shiny as it once was. Our vets recommended a hydrolyzed food or novel protein. Looking at the hydrolyzed food I had little trust in the companies that make it so I set out to find a Novel protein. Kangaroo was what I landed on. I mix this wet food with the Zignature Kangaroo dry food and also treat with Kangaroo jerky and in the last two months she has gotten her coat back and started putting her weight back on. We switched our German Shepherd to the Kangaroo diet and both can't wait for dinner they whine and cry for it as I mix it together and add a bit of warm water My 10 year old labrador was recently diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. • Bosco's favorite

    By on

I have an 13 year old havanese. Bosco has heart failure, allergies & (I think) IBS. Meals arent important to him. He's never been excited at all about eating. Until NOW!!! I've tried raw, kibble, homemade and nothing worked. I open the Zignature moist & he is barking. I can't serve it fast enough. Mid day he wants more. I love it. And I can't say enough about Chewy.com ..... they have excellent service. I order Monday & Tuesday noon it's at my doorstep. How do they do that??? Thank you Chewy.com & thank you Zignature. You are the best!!!!! Bosco likes Trout & Salmon too. I just ordered Duck. Anything for Mr Bosco ... he's adorable.

  • Just what my Pomeranian needed

    By on

I have been using the dry food for my Pomeranian for two years. I thought I would give him something with a different taste along with the dry food. He loves it and only give him three or four tablespoons with his dry food. This way it lasts longer and it makes his day. I am so glad to fine this product in the can, so good for a dog with food allergies. Some say it smells really bad but I have not seen (or smelled ) that at all. I will continue to buy it for my Pomeranian.

  • My dogs love kangaroo!!!

    By on

I have had some of my dogs on limited ingredient food and I really like that Zignature's line is all "low glycemic" which is good for my dogs' blood sugar too! Seems that they are satisfied longer. I wasn't sure if my dogs would like kangaroo, but I found they actually go bonkers for it! I would recommend Zignature for anyone needing a limited ingredient diet for their dogs.

  • Excellent alternative single source protein

    By on

Zignature's canned food is the best for my 14 lb dog based on the ingredients. Also, she was especially interested in the new smell and flavor. I ordered it during the winter so it would not get hot in truck en route south and possibly change the smell/flavor. I feed her kibble, too, so 1 can lasts 2.5 days and therefore a case lasts about 1 month, costing an extra $10/month compared to other Zignature canned. I will continue to include Kangaroo in her rotation diet. Now, Zignature, what about some canned Beef?

  • Best decision ever

    By on

I have been feeding my 13 year old mini doxie raw as recommended by my vet. She was having difficulty with yeast and her hair was course and dull. Since switching her to the Zignature brand, she is soft and glossy and no more yeast. She is one happy puppy again and she loves the food.

  • Great for allergies!

    By on

We have Shitzus with terrible skin allergies. They naw at their paws constantly. Tried every food with every possible combination to no avail. Vet recommended Kangaroo, skeptical of course but I gave it a shot. What a difference, after a couple weeks the skin scratching and paw chewing stopped. The expense is worth it after you take into account the vet bills for allergy reactions. Highly recommend it. I give both 1/4 soft and 3/4 hard, keeps them interested in their food. Stools are always firm.

  • Zignature Products

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I have 4 dogs and this food has truly done what it said it would do, exceed expectations in pet nutrition. By removing everything that a dog could possibly be allergic to has really been a blessing for 2 of my dogs that suffer from allergies, as well as being a blessing for my picky eater who hates everything but absolutely loves Zignature food. Thank you Zignature for making excellent products. Thank you Chewy for carrying this products line.
