Instructions

Quick and Easy Set Up:

1)Terrarium Liner: Unroll and place the included Terrarium Liner on the bottom of the terrarium, making it as flat as possible. You may trim some of the length with a scissor if it is too long.

2)Humidity and Temperature Gauge: Attach suction cup to the hole in the back of the Humidity and Temperature Gauge and affix the suction cup to the back of the terrarium. Generally, placement in the center, closer to the bottom of the terrarium, will result in more accurate readings.

3)Screen Cover and Screen Clips: Remove all plastic and tags from screen cover and place on top of terrarium. Install screen clips by following directions in Tropical Kit Care Guide.

4) Reflector Dome, Light Bulb, and Heat Mat: Follow the steps in the included Heat Mat instruction manual to install the Heat Mat and rubber spacers. Screw bulb into Reflector Dome. Place the Day Blue bulb on top of the screen cover in the middle of the terrarium. Plug in Reflector Dome and flip switch to illuminate.

    Pretty Good Depending on Animal

    By on

Overall an okay basic setup. However it really depends on what you wish to put in it. I especially advise researching the creature you plan on putting in it to make sure this setup is adequate. This basic kit is only suitable for certain types of animals. For example it is a very small enclosure.

I assumed the starter kit would've came with a hideout too but it did not. Shipping was fast and everything was fine except my lid to the terrarium came bent inside the box.

    Do not buy!

The only good things I can say about this kit, is that it did come in one piece. I have already had to replace every piece, including the tank. I'll go over it piece by piece. Tank: looked sturdy, sealed well, but last night I found a giant crack under the heat mat which I have had tons of problems with from the get go. Heat mat has a thermostat controller on it, set at 85 degrees. Couldn't even feel it getting warm through the glass. Turned it up to 88 degrees, which put it at 85 degrees in the tank, which was acceptable.. except the glass cracked all the way across the bottom where the heater is stuck. Really? Glass cracked at 88 degrees? (I stress tested another companies tank, and it didn't The only good things I can say about this kit, is that it did come in one piece. Glass cracked at 88 degrees? (I stress tested another companies tank, and it didn't crack under 130 degree heat), so I was shocked this tank cracked at 88 degree bottom heat that has a thermostat controller on it. Another problem with the heater, you can't move it once it's stuck, so pulling it off the cracked glass now means it's useless so I had to replace the tank AND the heater because heater won't stay stuck to new tank without a ton of tape. (yes heater had enough airflow under it). Screen lid is alright, pretty sturdy, but the clamps are a joke, no way it will keep your reptile inside, so had to buy better clamps. Light socket is off center, so trying to screw the bulb in was way more effort than it should have been. Light does have spring clamps to hold it to the top of the lid, which was the only good thing I can say about it. Over-all this is just a bad set-up, so now I see why it was so cheap. Don't waste your money. it's actually cheaper int he long run to buy each piece individually than a half baked "kit." … more

    Very good starter

    By on

Worked well for my Leopard Geckos but the carpet does not last long at all. Poop stains, water mold/stains, lose theards, heat melting. So I used a different substrate. But the tank, the lights bulbs, etc are amazing and I would recommend as a starter tank but after a while changing the carpet for something else.

    Good Starter Set

    By on

Overall well worth the price. I especially recommend if you need a quick to set up, temporary solution for a tropical reptile. If you're using it to house something that may need a higher humidity range (and by higher I mean anything over 40$-50%) I highly suggest purchasing a block of eco earth and putting about 1/2 of it in as substrate rather than using the green carpet provided here. Other than that, great little set up. You'd pay much more than this if you purchased the components individually. Also it did not come in the original zilla box, which was the only thing that concerned me slightly.. but I'd assume this was due to having to repack it to ship safely. Great anole home

    By on

We purchased this kit to make a better home for our "found" green anole lizard pet. He had been living in a plastic butterfly habitat, so this was a definite step up! I read that the green carpet stuff was not recommended by reptile experts, so we used a natural substrate for the flooring instead, but otherwise I think this is a great kit. The assembly was easy and having everything in one place was a big help and timesaver for me.

    Perfect for tequila

My son has a small ball python and it was absolutely perfect. I changed the green mat for another bottom but the spider loves it so nothing went to waste!

The kit was a great value BUT I had yo put something heavy on top since the mesh is a bit loose.
