The x-small had the right spacing and great cushion for our nine month old mini-Dachshund (11 pounds). For the couch, it works perfect, he walks or runs up/down the stairs with ease. Unfortunately, we wanted this for our bed, but it is far too short; the stairs only come up to the boxsprings level leaving about a foot from the top of the stairs to the bed. This leaves the small version unusable for the bed. Du'e likes to chew on the zipper but that was easily resolved by wrapping packing tape around the bottom stairs. All in all, great for a couch, not usable for a bed.
This would be perfect for the smaller dog. I have a 70lb pitbull and had to ratchet strap the product to the bed frame. The "blocks" due flex as he ascends/descends due to the cushion build. This causes hesitation on the dog but with coaching, we are both making it work. If you are really wanting something rock solid for a bigger dog, I would suggest a "DIY" build or my other thought was placing an ottoman next to the bed for a 2 step jump.
I’m just a (growing) little guy who is only 8 lbs but these stairs allow me to get on and off the couch when I want, safely. I love being able to choose when I want cuddle-time with my family on the couch vs alone time with my toys (arf!) Mom says it was easy for me to learn on to use the steps and even when I do stumble the steps are soft and I don’t hurt myself. Arf! Arf!
Very disappointed. I have searched and researched for just the right steps to help my girl get on the bed. She has subluxation of the patella and big jumps are not easy for her. This is a beautiful stair but the foam is too soft and she doesn’t like that. Maybe if the steps were wider, but the foam still gives under her weight which is 18 lbs
Our old doggie did not learn how to use it immediately, but when we placed a treat on the top step, she climbed it for the first time. Now she is quite comfortable to climb up and down. She needed it because of her age. We are glad we bought it for her.
I consider my dog to be small. she's 20 lbs & won't use this stair because it's too soft. I have a high bed so bought the xl size. She loses her balance because it moves under her weight. Since it all unzips I'm going to try inserting cardboard cut to size to see if I can firm it up. Unless someone has a better idea - ?
kinda large but sturdy for our 10lb Lolly. Bed is high and nighttime is too sleepy to jump on. a little bit of low fat string cheese makes climbing those stairs more interesting, tired or not !! yea!!
My tiny chihuahua loves to be able to go up and down to and from the couch whenever he wants! He’s been much happier and more independent since we got these stairs.
We have an almost 4 year old 10 pound miniature schnauzer who was constantly trying to jump onto our almost 2foot high bed. She's taken to these stairs perfectly. Great size and perfect height for her. They hold her weight just fine.
My cat Ivan is turning a spry 19 years old this year. More often than not he doesn't act his age at all, gets the zoomies and chases the laser pointer like he isn't a day over 5. However, some days he zooms a little too hard and his arthritis flares up and he finds it hard to get onto and off of the furniture. I was trying to find something to make it easier for him and found these stairs and decided to give them a try. I got one small set for the couch and one large set to help him get onto my bed. He loves them! They're really well made with thick foam, so I don't have to worry about them falling apart or collapsing. Ivan now uses these exclusively to get onto and off of both the couch and bed and I've noticed a huge change in him. He moves so much better now that he isn't putting extra stress on his old-man joints by jumping up and down constantly, I wish I had gotten him stairs sooner. Highly recommend!!
