FAQ

If I give my pet a Ziwi Peak treat, how much food should I feed?

There is a lot of goodness in every Ziwi Peak treat, so we recommend you modify the amount of Ziwi Peak food at feeding time. Your pet won’t need as much if he or she has had treats, so reduce accordingly. Much as pets love them, Ziwi Peak treats don’t make a complete daily diet. Use them as a premium real-meat treat to occasionally reward your dog or cat’s good behavior.

    Up chuck kitty

    By on

My cat (10yr) couldn't wait to tear into this! The aroma must be as the aroma of a charcoal grill in the summertime. As soon as I opened the bag, she was all over me. Rubbing, meowing and gazing into her bowl. I gave her half a scoop. She was happy to eat it but wait... Later, she threw it up. The next day I offered her a smaller amount. Thinking maybe she ate too much. She threw that up too. Kitty likes the food. It does not like her. Oh well

    Great ingredients

    By on Top 100 Contributor

My 16 year old female cat Madison likes dry food . I wanted something closer to raw than standard dry food. This fit the bill. Madison has difficulty eating this food . I think because of the shape and bigger size. I added bone broth and that helped soften the food.

Three of my four cats love this healthy food.

    By on

I read a lot of reviews, about owners saying that their cats didn't like the chicken flavor, so maybe they will like this flavor? Three of my four cats love it, and my fourth cat, doesn't love it, but she still eats it, so I'm going to continue to feed it to them, because it's very healthy for them. Since this great quality food is so expensive, I mix it with another, good quality food, and I also mix in Bonito Flakes, to make their meals extra tasty for them. Next time I order this food, I'm going to try the beef, and then hopefully my fourth cat, Mally, will love that flavor.

    Baby loves it!

Our cat who is on the mature and cranky side of life loves this food. Our only problem is that she will decide she wants more (having already finished her nighttime snack) in the middle of the night and will howl until we comply.

Healthy alternative for cats who will only eat dry food!

    By on

My cat who refuses to eat wet food will eat this food! I can tell he would prefer a less healthy option (and my other cat won’t touch it) but he will eat it and I have noticed significant improvements in his health since he has. He already seems to have more energy and better muscle tone, after a month of feeding Ziwi. He is getting so much more animal protein, and no fillers, with this food! It is expensive, but comparable with the price of wet food, which he should be eating anyways. Cons: he won’t eat the crumbled powder on the bottom, and there tends to be a lot of this

3 out of 3 cats loved it

    By on

It’s rare all three kitties agree but this is a top pick. This is an air dried food so it is heavier than the freeze dried variety. It rehydrates quicker. The downside is the small bag is very pricey for the number of servings you get. The bigger bag is a much better value. But it pays to be cautious if you don’t know if your cat will like it. I had read the food was stinky. I did not find that to be the case. It was aromatic, and not offensive. I will order this again. Very wholesome. My kitties crave this. They are ready to eat as soon as I get home from work.

    Only downside is the price!

    By on

My cats go absolutely crazy for these. The moment I open the bag they come running with tails vibrating in excitement. Unfortunately because of the price I’ll only be using this as treats. On the plus side, I have to clean on cat’s eyes twice a day from a permanent injury and because they love them so much they’re great for training. It comes in perfect tiny treat sized squares.

    Exorbitant Price!

    By on

My cat was not eating her kibbles for a week. Then I gave this ziwi product which I got as a sample. She gobbled it up. But it's $42 for a 2 lb bag. That's 7x what I normally would pay. So unfortunately won't be doing this.

Finally, Gracie the cat is happy!

    By on

Gracie, one of my kitties, had been having issues keeping her kibble down. As is the case with many cats, she would inhale her kibble and immediately vomit it up undigested. I got her checked out by my vet who ordered blood work - we didn't find any health conditions to explain the vomiting. We then thought she may be allergic to particular proteins so I bought a host of kibble with different proteins and ingredients, including limited ingredient variations and "sensitive stomach" prescription foods. It was all a no go - she would consistently throw up whatever dry food I transitioned her to. Gracie does receive wet food twice a day, but I like to give her something to snack on in between Gracie, one of my kitties, had been having issues keeping her kibble down. Gracie does receive wet food twice a day, but I like to give her something to snack on in between her wet food meals so she doesn't act like I'm starving her. I came across this Ziwi Peak air-dried food which sounded very interesting. Perhaps Gracie wouldn't throw this up since it is essentially raw food? Well, I turned out to be right! Not only does Gracie not throw this up, she absolutely loves the taste. I have to admit that this particular flavor STINKS (I haven't tried the others). I'm a vegetarian and am still getting used to the odor of the food. However, Gracie's appetite and health are more important to me than my personal feelings so I'm okay. I also want to point out that Gracie now has an abundance of energy! She never used to play that much...now she is running around and pouncing during playtime like she's a kitten. I attribute this positive change in her behavior directly to this food. Five paws up from this mommy and her fur baby! And extra points for it being raw and having high quality ingredients! P.S. Minnie, my other kitty, initially ate this food but ultimately rejected it. So, it may not be every kitty's cup of tea but I think it's worth a try, especially if you have a cat that barfs up dry food on the daily. … more

    Dodd’s Duke

    By on

Cats wouldn’t eat it. I then mixed with kibble then with wet foods even chicken gizzards . They ate around it. If cats don’t eat it no matter how good the ingredients it’s pretty much useless.
