What's with the shipping

Good product arrived on time works great, good value. But what's with the shipping. My little tiny 18 inch bulb arrived in a 5 foot by 3 " shipping tube with 1/4

Good product arrived on time works great, good value. But what's with the shipping. My little tiny 18 inch bulb arrived in a 5 foot by 3 " shipping tube with 1/4 inch wall thickness. Not very sustainable from a green or for business.
