Mopani Wood is a naturally grown product. Sizes are approximate.Small: 6-8 inchesMedium: 10-12 inches
All natural wood leaches tannins, which discolor water and reduce pH levels. To minimize this effect, soak wood in a separate container, and change water daily to remove excess tannins. The wood will be ready when the water color goes from dark brown to a very light. Adding extra carbon to your aquarium filter can help remove any remaining discoloration.

The excellent service I received from the phone rep. was top notch. she took care of the issue I had and I am completely satisfied. The wood itself is excellent and adds more of a natural look to my aquariums. I will be buying more of this as I have 9 tanks. I am extremely happy on all fronts. Thanks, Jimmie V.
I suppose I should have realized that these are all different The one I received is ok but wanted it as a basking log and this one is too low
The images for these things always include interestingly shaped wood that would be great for aquascaping. I expected the reality to be less interesting, and it was. One piece was very very close to being interesting—thus the 4 stars. The other was pretty much a flat piece of wood. Still, both will be good for my clown plecos, who require driftwood in the aquarium.
Came with a multi order used mopani bigger piece and a few pieces of spider wood with some rock to make a hardscape for my mbuna tank I think it looks good!
I got a really nice piece for my fish tank. I soaked it for a few hours and was surprised to find the water staying clear!. No color at all as if it was pre-treated. Put it in my tank and it's great. No tea color still. Would recommend.
Not the size I was expecting but my fish seems to like it.
piece keeps turning water brown even after following directions to soak it in water and change the water everyday..its been going on over a week of soaking and the piece still turns the water brown..not very becoming for the aquarium
I’m not happy with the look of my medium, it’s pretty much a flat branch. But I did purchase 2 small ones from the same brand elsewhere and was happy with them. The first mistake most people seem to be making here is that their just rinsing the wood. I boiled it 4 times and let it soak in the hot water for 2 days, then I boiled it 1 more time after I sanded the sharper parts with my Dremel sander (it’s going in a betta tank) and put it in ice water instantly to seal the tannins in, then I soaked it in room temp water overnight and added it to my tank, it has not changed the water color at all.
I hit 2 medium pieces for my 20g and they are pretty big. I might have to find smaller pieces. I booked both for an hour then empty then boil again about 3 times and then left it soaking for 3 weeks. The tannins still leach but not as bad. Keep soaking until the weed looks lighter in color instead of the dark brown/red color. It’s a long process might try to find something else.
This is one of two pieces of driftwood in my 40 gallon cichlid tank. Tannin leeching takes about a month to clear completely but those tannins are good for my fish so no complaints here. They are beautiful and breake down VERY slowly so I shouldn't have to replace them for several years.
