Our box turtle LOVES this

Our Box turtle was ok with the previous substrate we had in there, but when we poured this in, she immediately perked up. She absolutely loves the Reptisoil soil

Our Box turtle was ok with the previous substrate we had in there, but when we poured this in, she immediately perked up. She absolutely loves the Reptisoil soil and is constantly digging and burrowing now. Was hesitant putting on auto-reorder, but now I'm glad we did! VERY happy that our turtle is so much more active and visibly happier with this substrate.

The mix of different substances

It’s a mix of carbon sand and peat moss to create a perfect bioactive blend though in dry set ups it can dry out pretty easy and turn a little dusty after a while

Great quality

After doing research about play sand and topsoil, rinsing and cleaning, moldy and chunky topsoil, etc, I went with this. No hassle and it’s ready out of the bag

After doing research about play sand and topsoil, rinsing and cleaning, moldy and chunky topsoil, etc, I went with this. No hassle and it’s ready out of the bag. One 24 quart bag leveled out to approximately 1 to 2 inches in depth in a 18x36 inch, 40 gallon tank. Great product and happy I went with this.

Bioactive Base

While on its own this is too fine of a texture to use, it will become too compacted, it makes a great base for a bioactive setup when mixed with leaves and moss

While on its own this is too fine of a texture to use, it will become too compacted, it makes a great base for a bioactive setup when mixed with leaves and moss and a bit of bark to give it more aeration!

Iguana enclosure

Brought this for my iguana tanks. When mixed with coconut fiber, it really helps to keep moisture in and helps with maintaining humidity.

Absolutely DO NOT GET THIS FOR YOUR SNAKE

I would give it zero stars if I could. Got this substrate because people were saying it’s a great substrate, but apparently it’s terrible for feeding. I fed my snake

I would give it zero stars if I could. Got this substrate because people were saying it’s a great substrate, but apparently it’s terrible for feeding. I fed my snake in his enclosure (something I always do and never have had a problem before with) and my snake took extremely long to eat, which was the first cause for concern because he normally eats within 30 mins to an hour. Then I came and checked on him after he had fully ate, and he was sitting upright with his mouth open and gasping for air. Turns out the substrate got lodged in his throat and he couldn’t breathe. If you don’t take your snake out of their enclosure to feed them, i would highly recommend a different substrate. I don’t think the substrate is bad, but it can be extremely dangerous for your snake!
