Instructions
The Hummingbird Ring is top rack dishwasher safe, and easy to clean with a gentle bleach solution or mild dish soap. The ring should be thoroughly cleaned before every refill, and the syringe, trainer, and clips should also be rinsed and cleaned. Allow all parts to dry before assembly and refilling, and store the ring empty and clean between uses. I did what the instructions said and sat quietly in a chair in the flower garden with the "ring" on, and on the third evening a hummer came to the ring! I was by myself and was unable to photograph, but I have moved a camera so hopefully I catch it on video the next time. I would also suggest filling with nectar and setting it with the flowers so they are used to drinking from it. These are a great way to keep kids quietly occupied and out in nature. It was easiest to fill by putting it in a bowl of nectar and snapping the top on while submerged, it get fully filled that way.

This is a very cute product that I was excited to try out with children in my family. This product includes two plastic feeder rings that have removable lids. Making the hummingbird "food" according to the recipe in the instruction booklet was easy and pretty fun for the kids. Filling the ring reservoirs was easy despite this kit not including the syringe that comes with the Starter Kit. This product also does not include the trainer, which holds 3 rings and can be attached to a window or used in other receptacles. We improvised with empty pet medication bottles that we put rocks in to keep the rings stable. The instruction booklet recommends training hummingbirds to use the feeders in a "trainer" before using the feeders as rings on your hands.The medication bottles were a great size for the rings so this was a fun way to upcycle used bottles. We then placed the filled rings outside on a windowsill. Unfortunately, after a week, we did not observe any hummingbird activity and the ring reservoirs were still mostly full (they were protected from weather and there was no rain during the week). So, we did not move on to the next step of the kids holding the rings and trying to feed hummingbirds. It's possible they are more effective with store-bought food or with the actual trainer. The children I used it with were disappointed that they didn't get to use them as advertised, so I am unable to recommend this product alone/with DIY food. I do see value in it as a fun learning/craft activity for kids who are able to understand that it may not work as advertised.

These hummingbird ring feeders are adorable! Unfortunately, due to the heat wave and rain for a month over here in North Carolina, I have only seen 2 hummingbirds. Usually I have 3 feeders out and there are so many around. But, I sat in a chair outside and they came right to me, they were hesitant at first then they fed. I can't wait until we have better weather when there are more around so I can enjoy these. My grandchildren are going to love them. I highly recommend this especially if you have children around.

This is a fun idea! Hummingbirds are very curious. The brightly colored flower tops on these rings snap off easily. You add hummingbird nectar to the rings (1 part plain sugar to 4 parts water, heated to melt sugar, then cooled). Train your birds by placing the rings in a holder - a shot glass is the perfect size. The birds are immediately drawn to the rings to drink the nectar. When they are used to the rings, you place the rings on your fingers and wait patiently for the birds. I feel adults should train them first as children won't have the patience it takes in the beginning, but the birds will learn to come and feed out of the ring. It is best to stabilize your hand, such as by resting it on a porch railing. A great gift idea!

We followed instructions as far as putting out in view of or near where hummingbirds go and then be able to put onto our hand but as of yet we have not had any hummingbirds come to our rings. We will continue to “train” our hummingbirds and hope to be able to update my review with a bit more time.
