I received my A to Z Horse Cookies in reasonably quick time. The cookies come in a neat,tidy 5"x4"x7.7" box, with a simple handle that makes the box so easy to take to the barn with me. Inside the box was a ziplocked sealed plastic bag with the cookies. I didn't count them before I started giving them to my horse a few days, but I think there are about 40-50 good sized cookies in the box. I have a 27 year old gelding who can't eat hard food anymore, and in fact when he's offered grass, he can chew it, but it all drops out of his mouth in clumps (quidding)... so I was very anxious to see how he could handle these soft cookies. Well... I'm thrilled to say that he absolutely LOVES these cookies and he has no problem ingesting them at all. The cookies smell absolutely fresh & delicious.... and appear to be be made with all natural ingredients. And yes... the cookies are soft enough to put a pill in and given how quickly my horse consumed them... I don't think he would ever notice if I put a pill in them. The only thing I can complain about is that nowhere on the box or in the zip-lock bag does the manufacturer indicate how long it is safe to use the cookies (no 'expiration' or 'best if used by" date and no date of manufacture or anything. I reached out to the manufacturer to ask, but never received a response So, since I only am able to go see my horse at the barn every 4-5 days, and I didn't want to chance the cookies going bad, I decided to put them in the freezer. That seems to be working fine. But if the manufacturer could start putting a date on their product... that would even be better!

Even my pickiest of equine companions love these treats. They are slightly large for my draft yearling, but the other four ranging in ages from 2-17 were a big fan. I have a couple very food motivated ones in training. I also appreciate that they can double as pill carriers. I think they’d work well for that purpose, too.

These horse cookies are soft, smell good, and easily break in half or quarters to give your horse a smaller treat. My horse who is 25 and has metabolic syndrome readily ate the cookies and asked for more. The ingredient list and guaranteed analysis appear to be well suited for horses that have metabolic issues. The cookies come in a resealable bag as well, so they have stayed soft for over 4 weeks! I recommend these treats and feel good about giving my horse a treat that taste good and is healthier for him.

My horse, Vinnie, is one of the eight living at my friend's house. I did a taste test with him. I offered him these cookies and he was not wild about them. He actually prefers the horse cookies that he is used to having daily. Horses are funny though as when I offered these new cookies to the other seven horses (and they really liked them) Vinnie decided that they were okay and that I should feel them only to him! The result of my non-scientific test show that seven out of eight horses love these cookies. I found them to be a bit crumbly for the purpose of using them as a pill pocket. I don't think that would work very well as the cookie was not soft and gooey enough to stay together to use it for hiding a pill. I loved the opportunity to provide this review to Chewy. They are my favorite pet care store as I can find what I need quickly and save money by using their autoship. Chewy also has outstanding customer service. I have one horse and two cats, and I highly recommend Chewy to anyone who has pets!

This is Stella, she is cranky by nature. She was very pleased with these treats. I like that the A to Z Cookies are low is sugar and carbohydrates because I like to spoil her on occasion and she is a very thick girl. They are soft enough to hide a pill in yet chewy enough that the horse doesn't choke from dryness. The cookie smells great and is made with the best quality ingredients. I will be buying these smart little cookie treats when I see them. I keep them handy at the barn for all occasions, pill applications, for being a good horse, and for just great bonding.

I read somewhere that these were more natural for horses in the wild. Well, I have 3 wild horses, which we have had a few years, and it was an acquired taste the first time. After a few samples, they liked them. I especially like that they are not real hard nor real soft. That is, they feel natural in your hand, but don't break apart and get messy. Wish I had had these for our non-wild horses; I'm sure they would have eaten them down quickly. I especially like the fact that they are low sugar.
