Questions & Answers

22 Customer Questions

is this food non gmo?
Answer by ChewyOct 05, 2017
This formula is GMO- Free.

Is the kibble soft or hard, does the food need to refrigerated?
Answer by ChewyMar 04, 2021
The kibble is a dry, cooked kibble and it should be soft enough to chew for the average dog. It is not required to refrigerate, food can be stored in a garage or something like that with large temperature fluctuations, the best storage is in your home in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Once opened, you can safely store food in its packaging by rolling the top of the bag down after each use.

Approximately how many cups are in the 25 pound bag?
Answer by ChewyJan 15, 2021
There are approximately 4 cups for every pound of kibble.

What is the source of the omega three and omega six?
Answer by ChewyMay 25, 2021
The omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in ACANA Red Meat Formula will come from the ingredients used. In particular, animal fat like pollock oil is a great source.

Not sure this is a good product

Honest. My dog loved this food. She was six years old and was not eating her previous food. I read some things and reviews and chose this product because she loved the sample bag I had purchased. I didn’t talk to a vet until after she died. The ones I have spoken with do not recommend a grain free product. My dog was 6 years of age, never had any health issues. Did everything from hiking, just running around, running alongside my bicycle etc. A normal active dog. After eating this product for 4-6 months, she was running around and fell over dead. I advising you to talk to your vet

Chewy is the Best

Good dog food company, and unlike many others, Acana does not abuse dogs in laboratory testing. Acana food is voluntarily taken home by the staff who happily feed the quality food to their own dogs.

Can’t Get Enough

I always switch up my Bull Terrier Mutts grain—free meats. This Acana Red Meat Recipe he will eat thru twice as fast if allowed to. He can not get enough of ARMR.

Excellent food

Our dogs thrive on Acana. German Shepherds can have sensitive guts and skin, we have had no problems with Acana. I can feed less of this nutrient dense food so despite the higher initial cost, I find it costs less in the long run.

I tried the dry dog food and as soon as I opened the bag, I didn't like the smell. My golden retriever ate it and shortly after vomited. After that she wouldn't go near it. If you know Goldens it has to be pretty bad if they don't want to eat it, they eat just about anything. Wasn't for us.

ACANA

For a long time I fed my dog a different, better grain free dry food. They kept raising prices for less dog food in cheaper packaging. I decided to try others. I’ve tried several and ACANA is the best. It is a better food and dog loves it. Thanks

Good product. My dog likes this food.

Like that this food has limited ingredients. No fillers or grains. Just don't understand why decent dog nutrition has to be so darned expensive.

finally food they love

My dogs have tried every food under the sun except the cheap food with all the corn. My dog was on taste of the wild since she was a puppy but of course I was always switching foods and then she got tired of that so it’s been a long search to find something that both dogs like since usually one of my dogs will have allergies to a certain type of food while the other one doesn’t and usually about a month and they are ready for like something different and the one I’ve had since she was a puppy will just stop eating but they both have no issues with this food I did take longer to transition them just to be careful since one is very sensitive. We haven’t had any issues and they have been on this food for months .. probably the longest they’ve been on one brand consistently. I seen someone leave a review about DCM and this food and lentils… as far as I know lentils isn’t the problem as much as it is taurine and not having enough But my dog has been on grain free food all her life since she was a little baby I haven’t had any issues she’s a pit my other dog is a Boston terrier /Dane mix both over 50 pounds and no heart issues or health issues except for my pit having allergies to fish. Of course always talk to your vet but I wouldn’t let that stray you away from this food especially if you have tried all the foods like me I think this food is worth giving a try As it is cheaper than Orijen and the ingredients are not far off. And also instead of feeding my dogs like wet food toppers I actually get the dehydrated dog food from honest kitchen I make a batch of that and I use that to top their food but even before that and just with the a canna beef their coat became shinier they put on more weight as they did not like the other food that they were on it would starve before eating it no allergy issues whatsoever no bathroom issues anything so I think it’s worth giving a try and of course if you have any worries talk to your vet.

Where is DA beef ?

It's right here in the bag, both my dogs love it, and both do very well on it. I feed real beef and Ollie and use this as a filler. Excellent results and using my lifelong strategy of mixing proteins up to 12 months of age my dogs can eat any protein without any stool drama or allergies. They can eat fish, chicken, beef, turkey, lamb, and stools remain the same.
