This formula is GMO- Free.

Is the kibble soft or hard, does the food need to refrigerated?
Answer by ChewyMar 04, 2021
The kibble is a dry, cooked kibble and it should be soft enough to chew for the average dog. It is not required to refrigerate, food can be stored in a garage or something like that with large temperature fluctuations, the best storage is in your home in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Once opened, you can safely store food in its packaging by rolling the top of the bag down after each use.

Answer by ChewyJan 15, 2021

finally food they love

My dogs have tried every food under the sun except the cheap food with all the corn. My dog was on taste of the wild since she was a puppy but of course I was always switching foods and then she got tired of that so it’s been a long search to find something that both dogs like since usually one of my dogs will have allergies to a certain type of food while the other one doesn’t and usually about a month and they are ready for like something different and the one I’ve had since she was a puppy will just stop eating but they both have no issues with this food I did take longer to transition them just to be careful since one is very sensitive. We haven’t had any issues and they have been on this food for months .. probably the longest they’ve been on one brand consistently. I seen someone leave a review about DCM and this food and lentils… as far as I know lentils isn’t the problem as much as it is taurine and not having enough But my dog has been on grain free food all her life since she was a little baby I haven’t had any issues she’s a pit my other dog is a Boston terrier /Dane mix both over 50 pounds and no heart issues or health issues except for my pit having allergies to fish. Of course always talk to your vet but I wouldn’t let that stray you away from this food especially if you have tried all the foods like me I think this food is worth giving a try As it is cheaper than Orijen and the ingredients are not far off. And also instead of feeding my dogs like wet food toppers I actually get the dehydrated dog food from honest kitchen I make a batch of that and I use that to top their food but even before that and just with the a canna beef their coat became shinier they put on more weight as they did not like the other food that they were on it would starve before eating it no allergy issues whatsoever no bathroom issues anything so I think it’s worth giving a try and of course if you have any worries talk to your vet.

Where is DA beef ?

It's right here in the bag, both my dogs love it, and both do very well on it. I feed real beef and Ollie and use this as a filler. Excellent results and using my lifelong strategy of mixing proteins up to 12 months of age my dogs can eat any protein without any stool drama or allergies. They can eat fish, chicken, beef, turkey, lamb, and stools remain the same.

leading cause of heart disease in dogs

Do not buy this food for your dog the high amounts of lentil will lead to DCM in your dog and other forms of heart disease. I fed it to my dog with great regret without knowing what I had known it almost killed my dog, research about the FDA investigation on it and you will see for yourself that all of the foods made from this manufacturer contain high amounts of lentil and many accounts of DCM cases in dogs from owners who fed it without knowing. Orijen, taste of the wild and acana are all hazardous foods to feed to your loved animal. Google it and you will find out the truth

Never changing to anything else again

After moving to AZ, my fur baby developed super dry skin; we both did. She eventually developed a hematoma resulting in cauliflower ear from all her scratching. It was an awful season for us. I tried all different type of dog food brands - with fish - in hopes I could get her some relief. I even tried making her food on my own. I also put additives in; beet toppers, additional fish oil supplements, coconut oil, changing her shampoo etc...nothing worked. After multiple failed attempts, I thought it was something that we both would just have to suffer through. Her skin was flaky all the time. Feeling defeated, I decided to make her happy and put red meat back in her diet because that's her favorite. That's when I decided to try Acana - Red meat recipe. I swear by this product!! Within the first month of changing over, her skin stopped flaking and her fur was softer!! Even the vet noticed! I will never change again and tell anyone who will listen that this is an amazing brand! Any human grade options Acana? LOL JK! Thank you Acana and thank you Chewy for having this as an option! It's the BEST of the BEST! My fur baby deserves nothing less.

Picky eater loves it

My Labrador loves this food. We had her with purina pro plan since she was a puppy. She would smell her food and turn away and come back and eat when she was dying of hunger. Decided to change to acana and now she eats her food as soon as I serve it. Has to transition her and she would choose the acana kibble and leave the purina for last. Happy to have found a dog food she enjoys

Weimaraner with a Sensitive Stomach

We recently moved to the US from England, so had to change food very abruptly. Despite a transatlantic flight and significant upheaval, we were able to seamlessly move him onto Acana with no gastro issues.

Dog enjoyed flavor but gave him horrible diarrhea

I really wanted to like this brand but my golden doodle could not tolerate it ! He loved the taste and flavor but he had horrible diarrhea. Once I cut out this food , the diarrhea stopped . I read somewhere that this food is too rich and may not settle well in some stomaches
