ACANA Light & Fit diet contains a minimum of 0.12% taurine. Champion has set minimum standards for the amount of taurine they require in our foods. While high levels of taurine naturally occur in many of the ingredients in their foods, including fish, meat and poultry, if the minimum standard is not met, they add more taurine to their recipes to ensure dogs who eat their foods are getting the complete nutrition they need.

I use kibble as a topping for homemade wet dog food. Sometimes I use canned food too. Laza is 11 and still going on trail rides with me. I used to use a different Acana food (I love this brand) but I switched her to this one because she was carrying a little more weight than necessary. I couldn't tell any less enthusiasm for this feed over the one we used to use that had a higher fat content. When I have switched to a lower fat content feed in other brands, she balks. But not with this food.

The effectiveness

I have tried MANY weight loss dog foods for my golden retriever with no luck. On top of it being grain-free which is needed for allergies, she has lost noticeable

Wow! HUGE difference in my dog’s bowel movements!!

My dog has had soft stools and other stomach issues since I got him as a 3 mo. old puppy (he’s almost 5 years now). I tried the prescription diets and several brands

My dog has had soft stools and other stomach issues since I got him as a 3 mo. old puppy (he’s almost 5 years now). I tried the prescription diets and several brands of probiotics without any luck. Finally I decided that at the very least he needed more fiber, so I bought this. Finally!! My dog’s poops look like poops! Well formed, bulky, and healthy! His rear end is also no longer inflamed. This was a huge change and came about only 1-2 weeks after mixing this into his regular kibble. I’m so happy knowing he’s probably feeling a LOT better these days. Side note: I thought he was sensitive to chicken products because they seemed to make his stomach issues so much worse, so it was kind of a weird choice on my part to buy this kibble. I’m happy to report he has had NO stomach issues at all since adding this to his diet though!

Finding Light formula questionable

It's a bit dry and lots of crumbs stick to and fall off of kibble. It tells me the food has less oils and they dry out or oxidize quicker than other Acana kibble

It's a bit dry and lots of crumbs stick to and fall off of kibble. It tells me the food has less oils and they dry out or oxidize quicker than other Acana kibble. Not my proffered formula. When the kibble is like that I worry that oils are restricted from food verses restricting carbs ...it make this formula probably the worst of their whole line and would not recommend.
