ACANA’s Commitment To You

ACANA goes above and beyond in their commitment to quality, with meat-rich, balanced recipes made from carefully sourced ingredients.

The first two ingredients in every recipe are fresh or raw meat, poultry or fish.

ACANA uses a trusted network of farmers, ranchers and fishers to source the wholesome foods for their recipes.

Protein-rich animal ingredients complemented by fresh vegetables, fruit and botanicals provide balanced nutrition.

Try Rotational Feeding

Keep things exciting at mealtime by rotating the ACANA recipes you feed your dog. This will allow your best friend to enjoy a variety of animal proteins in delicious and nourishing new flavors. Don’t transition too abruptly, though—start by replacing 25% of the old food with the new recipe and gradually increase the amount over time. Puppies are recommended to remain on puppy diets.

ACANA goes beyond the first ingredient in their foods, ensuring quality down to the very last ingredient on the label. From limited ingredient diets to recipes for all the stages of life, they take great care to provide the balanced, wholesome nutrition your pet needs for a long and happy life. Taste good and no more allergies!

My dog was on a food she loved and that agreed with her. Unfortunately when that companys formula was changed we had allergies and upset tummy. It took testing about 8 different brands of foods before I could find another one that would work for my super allergic dog. Staff at Chewy helped me find ACANA which has been a blessing! No more allergies or upset tummy, and she loves the food. I mix various dry flavors with ACANA can flavors. 2 of 2 reviews.

Accepted food for allergic dog

This brand was recommended by our vet for our dog who is allergic to chicken, brown rice and fish. He has responded well to the pork and squash recipe so I decided to try this new flavor. He has not seemed to like it as much as the other, but then again he is very picky.

5/5 stars! Highly recommend.

After months of soft stools, we finally did an allergy test for my golden retriever. She ended up being allergic to ingredients that are normal in dog food (peas, flax). Although pricey, it is worth it!! Not as much gas, no more worrying about picking up her poops on walks. I am so happy we got her on this!

what great food

I put my pup on this after trying 4 other brands that gave my poor pup the runs. This food is amazing not only stop the soft stool but gave my pup life and he loves it so much.I’m so happy because going through that runny stool any dog owner know what I’m talking about..If you have a pup that deals with sensitive stomach I highly recommend this for your pup..

My dog likes!

so far, my dog seems to really enjoy this food. Seems like her digestion is a little better. I have only purchased this once so far, but plan to get another bag.

Acana is my dog's favorite brand

I have a mini Aussie who is an extremely picky eater, and after trying many different brands of food, I have finally found one that he loves. This was my first bag from Acana, but I didn't realize that it was grain-free. Since then, I have tried him on the wholesome grains Duck and Pumpkin, and Lamb and Pumpkin, and he has loved both as well. Yes, it is pricier than I like, but I no longer have to encourage him to finish his food many times because he licks his bowl clean. Also found that he poops less on this food.

Not Enough Wholesome Fiber

I would have given this product a 4 or 4 1/2 rating; however, I have two pups (one is large (65 lbs.) who is very particular, and another pup (45 lbs.) and is EVERY active and will eat anything.))) I even brought all the information cut from the bag to my vet to make sure it met both pups requirements and he approved. However, they were always hungry, even after adding green beans, boiled beef, chicken and cooked egg whites. Their stools also changed. Fiber per cup serving is only 5% and it has added sugars (which do not help.) The 65 lb. pup, tucked his head down and wanted nothing to do with the food. The smaller pup ate it all up in 30 seconds. However, both pups were looking for something to eat. One because she was not full and one because he had no interest. Solution: Find another food combination that satisfied both and kept price reasonable. Tried out "The Honest Kitchen Beef Recipe Grain Free Dehydrated." Expensive - yes! But knowing what each pup's Kcal requirements were, I found that ACANA primarily worked with the over active 45 pd. pup, when mixed with 1/4 c. dry flakes (makes 3/4 cup wet) with Honest Kitchen, and added boiled chicken and 1/2 c. ACANA at bedtime and she was very satisfied. The 65 pd. pup is only given 1 1/4 dry cups twice/day Honest Kitchen and boiled chicken and 1/4 cup ACANA at night, with no additives. (However, I do add Organic, low or no salt, Beef Bone Broth mixed with water to all meals.) The pups stools also improved and the 65 lb. pup's anal glands and allergies are clearing up. I do think that ACANA has a good product, especially if the pup has allergies (which I was originally looking for.) However, they need to UP the fiber, lower the sugars and make it more enticing to a dog's nose. I am no chemist, so I could be way off on my evaluation; but, I can only evaluate what results from two different types of pup's reactions are and how they behave and react to the food. Price (on auto ship for extra small/small) wise: ACANA: is 100 cups/25 lbs. were as The Honest Kitchen is 40 cups/10 lbs. If you have medium to extra large dogs The Honest Kitchen is very pricey. However, you do not have any left uneaten food and the pup's bellies are full. That is why I have struggled (and probably will in the future) to find the right combination for each pup. ACANA is a VERY good product; however, it just does not fill a pup's belly up.

Great rotation from a different limited ingredient kibble

Switched our allergy-challenged dog from a quality fish kibble. Very little adjustment. I think she was also overdue for a rotation.

Great Food for Our Dogs

We have one 14 year old Lhasa Apso mix and one 6 year old terrier mix. This food seems to agree with both of them. I’m a believer in healthy, easy to pick up poops, and this food is working. I do supplement with some wet food also.

Best ingredients for dogs

I changed dog food because the ingredients in our former food were not nutritious & the content was lacking in many areas. Acana is our new food. We even feed it to our cocker who is allergic to all egg & fowl ingredients & was formerly eating a "limited ingredient" food. Our cocker & our golden retriever love their new food. We caught our golden with his head in the dog food bag gobbling away!
