Large and giant breed puppies take longer to reach their full adult size and have slightly different nutritional needs compared to small and medium breed puppies. Due to their extended growth period, they need a diet that will help promote a slow and steady development. Improper mineral levels have been proven to be a factor in causing rapid bone growth and calcification in large breed puppies, which increases the risk for joint disease and skeletal deformities. The ACANA Wholesome Grains, Puppy Large Breed recipe will feature a reduced fat and calorie content which lends to a moderate energy content ensuring that growth will be at a slower pace. Additionally, the calcium and phosphorous are 1.2%:1.1%, this is an advantage because ratios that are too high may lead to future bone development issues.

My picky dog loves these!

Acana makes good quality food

One of the few kibble foods my picky GSD would eat. But sadly, after about a month on it he developed diarrhea. I've had him on a bland chicken diet and he has stabilized

One of the few kibble foods my picky GSD would eat. But sadly, after about a month on it he developed diarrhea. I've had him on a bland chicken diet and he has stabilized but each time I reintroduce the kibble even in small amounts he digresses. Just not sure at this point if the food is to blame, but it's suspicious.
