Transition Instructions

When switching to an American Natural Premium Formula, a gradually transition is recommended, but not required. Start by adding a small amount of American Natural Premium pet food to your dog's current diet while reducing the amount of the old diet. Increase the amount of American Natural Premium for 7 - 10 days until the transition is complete. For sensitive dogs, we recommend a 10-14 day transition.

Grain inclusive/ No peas, legumes or potatoes

I did a lot of research looking for a new dog food after news about possible link between grain free food, peas/legumes and potatoes and enlarged hearts. First found Victor Hi Pro and it was a highly recommended brand, my now 13 year old beagle loved it. I rated it 5 stars. I paid almost twice as much for Orijen (which was on the list of brands that may be linked to the heart condition) so it was a fantastic value. My dog ate Victor for about 4-5 months and I just transitioned to American Natural Premium Duck and Butternut squash that includes turkey and pumpkin for not much more than Victor Hi Pro (American Natural Premium has a few “flavors” that do not have peas/legumes or potatoes and is I did a lot of research looking for a new dog food after news about possible link between grain free food, peas/legumes and potatoes and enlarged hearts. I thought I would keep Victor HiPro in the rotation but while transitioning, it was clear my dog loved American Natural Premium much more than Victor Hi Pro. His preference is not subtle. Since there is no perfect dog food best to rotate. Plus it gives some variety vs the same food over and over again. I think I will try the Turkey and Pumpkin flavor of American Natural Premium next. Another grain inclusive, pea/legume and potato free brand I found was Dr Tim’s Kinesis, FYI. I planned on rotating these brands but my dog won’t eat Victor Hi Pro now since he’s tasted American Natural Premium (just taste preference I think because he gobbled up the Victor before tasting ANP) both are great dog foods-My senior dog approves of both but American Natural Premium is definitely his preference. … more

    They like it!

I was feeding both of my dogs the same brand but the chicken and rice flavor. I decided to get them the legume free duck recipe with butternut squash, in order to give them a little variety. Both of them are eating it enthusiastically. One is a golden retriever mix, and the other is a greyhound/cattledog mix. I also chose this brand because it's legume free.

    Dog loves it.

I checked up on a lot of different food brands that were legume free and this was my first choice. My pitbull loves this food and it really helps with his prior digestive problems.
