I have a standard goldendoodle who is more golden than doodle, but his hair grows much longer than a goldens and has a lot of wave. I couldn't stomach paying upword of $150 per grooming, so I bought everything to do it myself. I specifically chose these clippers because the description says "It also has a 12' heavy-duty cord so that you can groom without limits." The cord is NOT TWELVE FEET LONG. I got out my measuring tape and it's only EIGHT FEET. I live in an older home and outlets are very few, so I needed the longest cord possible since most of the cordless don't last a full grooming on an extra large breed making it so you need multiple batteries. The entire time grooming him the cord kept pulling out of the wall because it was short, finally realizing it was missing four of the advertised feet of the cord. The clippers did work well in his very thick hair, but I did change out the #10 blade they come with, to the Andis UltraEdge #3 3/4FC, 1/2" so he has a longer cut and not to the skin since it's close to winter.
I've used it once on my terrier mix who has a combination of fine downy underfur and more wiry tophairs. The finer hair tends to get matted, especially up and down his legs if it gets too long, and these clippers really helped me get rid of the matted fur so I could clean him up. This is a great improvement over my first set of clippers, which wouldn't cut his hair very well at all. Dogs with this type of fur really need a premium, heavy duty set of clippers. Lesser versions aren't worth the time or money!
These get really hot really quick. I didn’t realize they didn’t have an adjustable lever for the blade. Wish it came with a mini cleaner brush. I know there’s better out there, at the same price point. Not impressed.
The clipper is very clean and sharp. I am still learning how to groom and found that this clipper set was very nice for the price. It is a little loud but, my Goldendoodles do well with it.
Only used this once but it trimmed my golden doodle very well. His coat wasn’t super long though. Didn’t get too hot. Time will tell but so far I’m happy. Wish there was one more longer comb, used the longest one and going with the grain helped prevent going too short.
This set is exactly what I was looking for. It handles my dog's dense hair, and the long cord and length guides work perfectly. I love the stainless steel blades. They are very sharp and durable and cut beautifully. I bought a skip tooth blade for it as well, to trim some thick mats. Nice size, fits in your hand, doesn't overheat. Very satisfied.
I recently started cat grooming while also working as a vet tech and this clipper was worth the investment! Works wonderful on cats and is quiet as well !:)
I have a teddy bear and I got 2 swipes across his back and just like the $25 clippers they got stuck and wouldn't cut the hair.
This clipper is one of the best I have ever used. It is a little on the heavy side, but it is quiet and does a wonderful job.
I think in the end this product is a little too weak and small for my dog’s hair. Very hard to groom a doodle with this.
