API Water Softener Pillow can be recharged and re-used up to 4 times before purchase of a new one is necessary. When its effectiveness begins to lessen, dissolve 3 tablespoons of aquarium salt in 7 ounces of tap water. Rinse the pouch in this tap water, then soak it in salt solution for 2 hours. Place back in the filter as is, there is no need to rinse it. When not in use, store the API Water Softener Pillow in recharging solution. Do not let it dry out. Replace your API Water Softener Pillow when it ceases to function properly after recharging.
So it says it can be used for aquariums up to 20 Gallon.... so do I have to use multiple in my 55 gallon? and is one safe for my five gallon tank?

This pillow will soften water up to 20 gallons. For a 55 gallon tank, you'll want to use three pillows. For a five gallon tank, you'll want to use one pillow.
Is it safe to use a ph corrector when using water softener pillow? Also, can i use a regular filter at the same time I'm using the water softener pillow?

As long as the Water Softener Pillow is in the water flow, removing any additional media should not be necessary. The Water Softener Pillow can potentially lower the pH, so we do recommend adding an appropriate buffer alongside this to keep the pH levels stable.
So I'm confused. So this product does not stay in the water? How do you know it needs to be recharged.

This softener pillow stays in the water and must be recharged after 48 hours. To recharge: Dissolve 3 tablespoon of aquarium salt in 7 oz of tap water. Rinse pouch in tap water, then soak in salt solution for 2 hours. Place back in filter, there is no need to rinse. When not in use, store Water Softer Pillow in recharging solution. Do not let pillow dry out. Replace when Water Softener Pillow ceases to function properly after recharging.
